FST's MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET Breaks Ticket Sale Record

Selling over a record-breaking 20,000 tickets, Million Dollar Quartet must close on January 20. This explosive and energetic production kicked off FST's Mainstage season with a roar. Producing their largest theatre season to date, FST opened all five of its theatre spaces to full capacity before January. Running as many as 11 shows in just one day, FST also launched their inaugural Children's Theatre series and revived the Stage III series.

Come to the Edge with the Return of FST's STAGE III SERIES

Bringing audiences out of their comfort zone and to the edge, Florida Studio Theatre will be reviving its Stage III subscription series for the 2016-17 season. This three show subscription begins with the chilling drama, Stalking the Bogeyman. The second production will be the gripping Gidion's Knot, followed by the poignant one-woman play Grounded. Florida Studio Theatre to Present the NNPN Rolling World Premiere of RELATIVITY

Florida Studio Theatre presents the gritty and thought provoking Relativity by Mark St. Germain, a National New Play Network (NNPN) Rolling World Premiere. Dedicated to the presentation of challenging and unique productions, FST's Stage III Program presents Relativity running for a limited engagement from June 22 through July 2 in the Keating Theatre. Mark St. Germain's RELATIVITY Set as NNPN's 59th Rolling World Premiere

 The National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 59th NNPN Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Relativity by Mark St. Germain. The Roll includes NNPN Core Members Florida Studio Theatre (Sarasota, FL, June 24-July 2) - which originally commissioned the play - and Riverside Theatre (Iowa City, IA, March 31-April 15, 2017), as well as Associate Members Taproot Theatre Company (Seattle, WA, March 26-April 29, 2017) and Northlight Theatre (Skokie, IL, May 11-June 18, 2017).

FST Announces Winners of Young Playwright's Festival

FST has announced the winning plays of this year's Young Playwright's Festival. For 25 years, FST has honored thousands of young playwrights from all around the world through the WRITE A PLAY(WAP) program. Over the course of the 2015-2016 season, FST received plays written by over 3,600 young playwrights, aged 5-18. This year's winning plays will be presented in Imagination Adventures which is now playing through May 27 in FST's Keating Theatre. Tickets are $6. Please contact WRITE-A-PLAY Coordinator Patrick A. FST's Burdick Reading Series Begins 4/30

FLORIDA STUDIO THEATRE HOSTS PLAYWRIGHT RICH ORLOFF

Playwright, Rich Orloff, will be in residence at Florida Studio Theatre from November 8 through the 13.  His play, Chatting with the Tea Party, was part of the Burdick Reading Series in 2013 and has had previous readings. FST has hosted Orloff for several in-house readings and workshops over the past few years to help develop shows such as Shedding Light, Guy Stuff, Jennifer's Birth, Pool Party, and Come Again.

Florida Studio Theatre Seeks Short Plays and Sketches for New Play Festival

Florida Studio Theatre is seeking compelling short plays and sketches for inclusion in the annual New Play Festival during the spring. These scripts will be reviewed and used to develop long-term relationships with new writers for future programming. New Play Development is the lifeblood of FST. It is a year-round activity that is fully integrated with each of the theatre's other programs. FST's approach to new play development focuses on the continued life of the work.

FST's WRITE A PLAY Program to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Florida Studio Theatre's WRITE A PLAY program celebrates its 25th year of introducing and inspiring young playwrights to explore the magic of live theatre. This special anniversary season will kick off in the Keating Theatre with Rumplestiltskin adapted by Beth Duda and Adam Ratner. Directed by Associate Artist, Jason Cannon, performances begin in the Keating Theatre on Monday, October 1 and will play through November 13 to students from Sarasota and Manatee County schools. FST Extends OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER Through August 16

Held over by popular demand, Old Enough to Know Better runs through August 16 in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre. Assembled from over 100 hours of interviews, this inaugural Stage III Lab production explores the art of aging and what it really means to grow old.

Jessica Hendy Leads WENDY'S SHADOW in Concert at NYMF Tonight

WENDY'S SHADOW, with book by Jason Cannon and music & lyrics by David Maglione & Tomas Ruiz, will be presented in a one-night-only concert at Theater 3 tonight, July 24, 2015 at 8 p.m. as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
