Roman Polanski's upcoming God of Carnage features John C. Reilly, Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz in the movie version of Yasmina Reva's Tony-winning play. The film just debuted this summer at the Venice Film Festival (August 31- September 10) and opened the New York Film Festival on September 30. Emmy(R)-nominated actress Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels, Kill Bill: Volume 1) has been cast as a special guest-star on the upcoming fourth season of TNT's critically acclaimed police drama Southland. The series - starring Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie - is slated to launch its new season in January 2012 on TNT. Liu will appear throughout the season as a member of the LAPD.

JERUSALEM, the critically acclaimed and multi-award winning play by Jez Butterworth and starring Tony and Olivier Award-winner Mark Rylance (Boeing-Boeing, La Bête), began previews on April 2, at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street). Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that the famous hate-fest between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis is the inspiration of a new play that could hit the New York scene big as early as 2012. BETTE AND JOAN, as the play is called, receieved a private reading last week directed by Doug Hughes and starred Christine Ebersole (Bette Davis) and Jan Maxwell (Joan Crawford).

According to Deadline.com, Janet McTeer is set to star in the Fox's pilot 'Weekends at Bellevue.' The series is based on a memoir by Dr. Julie Holland. As described by Deadline, 'Weekends at Bellevue' is about 'a psychiatrist in charge of the weekend shift of Bellevue Hospital psychiatric unit.'

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced Katori Hall as the winner of its prestigious playwriting award, now celebrating its thirty-third year. The Houston-based Prize received the 2010 Theatre Communications Group's National Funder Award. The annual honor goes to a company, foundation or other entity for 'leadership and sustained national support of theater in America.

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Margaret Colin ('Gossip Girl'), Anita Gillette ('30 Rock'), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Mary Testa (Eat Pray Love; Xanadu), and Pauletta Washington ('The Parkers') will join upcoming NYC casts of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which has just entered its second smash year at The Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street). Colin and Harada complete the November cast (November 3 - December 5), which also includes the previously announced Tichina Arnold ('Everybody Hates Chris'), Alicia Goranson ('Roseanne') and Maria Tucci (Mary Stuart).

Manhattan Theatre Club's (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer) American premiere of Tony Award winner Lee Hall's THE PITMEN PAINTERS opened last night, September 30 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The play began previews on Tuesday, September 14.
