Broadway In Chicago is delighted to announce that Tony Award nominee Santino Fontana, star of the upcoming Pre-Broadway World Premiere engagement of the new comedy musical TOOTSIE, will be a special guest joining Janet Davies, ABC 7 Chicago's entertainment reporter and host of the entertainment and lifestyle program 190 NORTH on ABC 7, in hosting the FREE Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 6:15 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph St). The annual Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert at Millennium Park is presented with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. This year, there will be preview performances from A BRONX TALE THE MUSICAL; ANASTASIA; THE BOOK OF MORMON; CATS; COME FROM AWAY; DEAR EVAN HANSEN; FALSETTOS; FIDDLER ON THE ROOF; HEARTBREAK HOTEL; HELLO, DOLLY!; MISS SAIGON; and ROALD DAHL'S CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

Broadway In Chicago has announced that direct from Broadway, THE COLOR PURPLE, the Tony Award-winning revival of the truly remarkable musical adapted from Alice Walker's best-selling novel and directed by Tony winner John Doyle (Sweeney Todd and The Color Purple), will play Broadway In Chicago's Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph) for a limited two-week engagement next summer July 17 - 29, 2018.

The national tour of COME FROM AWAY, a new musical about the true story of the small town that welcomed the world, will make its Chicago debut at Broadway In Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph) for a limited engagement July 30 through August 18, 2019. COME FROM AWAY will be part of Broadway In Chicago's upcoming season. Subscriptions will go on sale in the fall of 2018.

Broadway In Chicago has announced that the national tour of CATS, the record-breaking musical spectacular by Andrew Lloyd Webber that has captivated audiences in over 30 countries and 15 languages, will play Broadway In Chicago's Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph) for a limited engagement July 16 through August 4, 2019. CATS will be part of Broadway In Chicago's upcoming season. Subscriptions will go on sale in the fall of 2018.

Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce the 2019 National Tour of the Lincoln Center Theater Broadway Production of FALSETTOS, William Finn and James Lapine's groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical, will play Broadway In Chicago's Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph) for a limited engagement May 28 - June 9, 2019.  This production was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival when it returned to Broadway in Fall 2016. FALSETTOS will be part of Broadway In Chicago's upcoming season. Broadway In Chicago's Summer Concert on Monday drew probably the largest crowd for the event I have seen in several years of attendance (and they were definitely a fired-up bunch). Musical theater fans across Chicago clamored to see Broadway In Chicago's showcase of ten upcoming touring shows (with a bonus appearance from HAMILTON's Chris De'Sean Lee, who co-hosted with usual emcee Janet Davies of ABC7). Here's my take on the highlights of the concert and which touring musicals should top your must-see list for the coming season.

Cinema/Chicago and the Chicago International Film Festival honor the best in television programming and commercials at the 52nd Chicago International Television Awards April 20, 2016. Capping off a newly programmed three-day event of special screenings and panel discussions celebrating the importance and excellence in work being created for television, the annual awards ceremony will pay special tribute to some of the most respected, acclaimed personalities and entities working in television today. Receiving special awards this year are Director, Playwright and Emmy Award-Winning Actor Regina Taylor; Entertainment Reporter Janet Davies; Entertainment Reporter Bill Zwecker; and HBO. The celebratory evening, hosted by WGN's Dan Ponce and Robin Robinson, begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception at Lucky Strike Lounge (322 E. Illinois St.) followed by the Awards Ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

Broadway In Chicago will offer a free Summer Concert at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park on Monday, August 17 at 6:15 p.m. Hosted by ABC 7 Chicago's Janet Davies, from the entertainment and lifestyle program 190 NORTH, the concert will feature cast members from ten fantastic Broadway shows.
