Four Choreographers Share a Week at The Joyce Theater 8/9-14

Camille A. Brown and Andrea Miller and Kate Weare and Monica Bill Barnes present two programs from August 9-14, 2010 at The Joyce Theater. 175 Eighth Avenue, NYC. Ms. Brown's new ensemble and Ms. Miller's company Gallim Dance share the first program. The second program features the Kate Weare Company and Monica Bill Barnes & Company. On Saturday, August 14 at 2pm, all four choreographers will present a family-friendly program featuring excerpts of works in the regular programs. The eighth annual Bard SummerScape presents Judgment Day ('Der jüngste Tag'), a gripping 1937 drama by Austro-Hungarian Ödön von Horváth, one of the most talented playwrights of his generation. A runaway hit of last fall's theater season in London, Judgment Day implicitly investigates the roots of Nazism among Austria-Hungary's ordinary working people.

Today Les Waters, the associate artistic director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre, launches another new play in New York. As part of Clubbed Thumb's 2010 Summerworks Festival, the Obie Award-winning director is staging the world premiere of a comedy written by a Berkeley native: THE SMALL by Anne Washburn plays for only six performances at the Ohio Theatre in Soho from June 20 - 26. Waters previously directed the off-Broadway production of Washburn's Apparition.
