Photo Flash: PERICLES WET Makes World Premiere with Portland Shakes

Portland Shakespeare Project presents the world premiere of Pericles Wet, by Portland playwright Ellen Margolis. Commissioned by Portland Shakes, Pericles Wet is a masterful adaptation of William Shakespeare's Pericles directed by Michael Mendelson. The show will run from December 1 to December 17 on Artists Rep's Alder Stage.

A Nativity Play Mary and Joseph learn they are to be parents - of the world's savior no less - they get caught up in something much, much bigger than a couple of na ve kids are ready for. Directed by Hub Artistic Director Helen R. Murray, with musical arrangements by Jonathan Feuer, PEEKABOO! is a heartfelt farce of biblical proportions.

University of Michigan presents Dominique Morisseau Play Inspired By Jena Six Case

Racially motivated criminal injustice is the topic of a powerful drama by University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance alumna Dominique Morisseau, to be presented by the Department of Theatre & Drama this month. Titled 'Blood at the Root,' and based on a true incident that took place in Louisiana in 2006, the play will be performed Nov. 16-19 at the Arthur Miller Theatre at the Walgreen Drama Center on U-M's North Campus.

AMERICAN HOME Receives World Premiere at the Fremont Centre Theatre

In 2008, playwright Stephanie Alison Walker and her husband were among the 1 in 54 homeowners to receive a foreclosure notice when the American housing market collapsed. As she fought to save her home and her marriage, Walker penned the first draft of American Home. In this powerful drama, opening August 26 at the Fremont Centre Theatre, a young couple faces eviction from the dream house they stretched to buy, an elderly widow falls prey to a reverse mortgage scheme, and a minister of the prosperity gospel must face the flock she's led astray. American Home takes an unflinching look at the impossible choices people make when faced with losing everything and, ultimately, celebrates the powerful resilience of community and the human spirit.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will co-present the 12th annual MFA Playwright's Workshop (MFAPW) in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Stanford University's National Center for New Plays.

Chester Theatre Company to present SKELETON CREW

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to present Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew in the historic Chester Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA, from July 13 - 23, 2017. The production is directed by Awoye Timpo, making her CTC directorial debut. In this 'deeply moral and deeply American play' (The New York Times), Reggie has worked his way up to supervisor at a faltering auto factory. Now he has to decide whether he owes his loyalty to himself, to his bosses, or to long-time family friend Faye and the younger workers on the line, Dez and Shanita. In the spirit of August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, this third play from Morisseau's Detroit Trilogy explores the hard choices facing Americans barely squeezing by. It was named by the New York Times as 'one of six plays that reckon with an anxious America.'
