As reported by The Miami Herald, actor Don McArt, who appeared on Broadway, in touring productions, films, television and more, died Tuesday in Boca Raton, Fla., after suffering a stroke. He was 90.
This play reading series at Lynn is being expanded into a much more ambitious program, where actual workshops will be produced that give playwrights the chance to bring in a new play and work with a cast and a director for six days - rehearsing, re-writing, rehearsing, rewriting. Then, at the end of the six days, they will present their new, polished, reworked play to the public, in performance.
Vickie Halmos, executive producer of Entr'Acte Theatrix and Palm Beach Principal Players, announced that she will be hosting a special after-show tribute to Jan McArt, the Director of Theatre Arts Program Development at Lynn University who is widely recognized as the First Lady of Florida's Musical Theatre. Ms. McArt will be honored at a Piano Bar/Pizza Party at the Count de Hoernle Theatre (formerly "The Caldwell") following the Sunday matinee performance of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR on July 8.

Lynn University to Present CLINT HOLMES At Wold Performing Arts Center - October 15-16 Lynn University and Jan McArt, Director of Theatre Arts Program Development, announced the opening performance of the 2011-2012 season of the LIVE AT LYNN Theatre Series at the beautiful Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center
The first play to be featured will be MURDER ON GIN LANE by Tony Finstrom. Wayne Rudisill will direct the reading and the all-star cast will include Jeffrey Bruce, soon to be seen in JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECNICOLOR DREAMCOAT at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre; Iris Acker, the host of the local Beacon TV series Onstage with iris Acker; Beth Holland, New York actress and local Board of Directors President of The Symphony of the Americas; and Ms. McArt, who is widely recognized as the First Lady of Florida's Musical Theatre.
