San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock today announced plans for the 2018 19 Season. The Company's 96th Season will open Friday, September 7 with a gala double-bill performance of Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci in Jos Cura's production with an international cast featuring Lianna Haroutounian, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Roberto Aronica, Marco Berti and Dimitri Platanias, conducted by Daniele Callegari. To usher in the new opera season, San Francisco Opera Guild will produce its signature benefit event, Opera Ball 2018.

The Chase is on at Don Bluth Front Row Theatre. That is, Mary Chase's comedy, HARVEY, that (beyond her other plays and children's stories) made her famous (a Pulitzer Prize) and gave James Stewart one of his truly classic roles. Lee Cooley, with an impeccable sense of character and comic timing, endows Elwood P. Dowd with an irresistible likability. He captures the mannerisms, even the tongue in cheek, of a gentleman drinker who knows more than he may let on and plays his counterparts to the hilt. The show runs through February 24th.
Music Theatre - Kansas City Pro opens its new auditorium integrated inside the B&B 18 screen multiplex on Midland Drive in Shawnee. The show is 'A Wonderful Life - The Musical' with book and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Ironically, this musical adaption of the classic 1946 Christmas film with James Stewart and Donna Reed is brought to us by the same mind that delivered 'Fiddler on the Roof.'

The festive program includes music by John Williams from Home Alone, Franz Waxman's 1938 Suite from A Christmas Carol, waltzes by Johann Strauss Jr., and more. Of course, no Holiday POPS! concert is complete without Maestro Milanov inviting the audience to join in on carols arranged by Leroy Anderson.

Newnan Theatre Company is proud to announce the opening of It's A Wonderful Life, adapted by James Rodgers from the movie directed by Frank Capra. The show opens on November 30 and runs through December 10. This classic story deals with George Bailey, a man who feels like he has given up every dream he had during his youth in order to do what was expected of him, only to find himself feeling unrewarded in every way. In a fit of despair, he wishes that he had never been born. His wish is heard by Clarence, an angel, second class from above who decides to let George see what life would be like for all those whose life he has touched.

Actors David Sajewich, in the role of George Bailey, and Allison Sill in the role of his wife Mary, lead the cast of Theatre at the Center's A Wonderful Life: The Musical with James Harms as Mr. Potter, David Perkovich as Clarence, Jim Heatherly as Uncle Billy and Jason Richards as Mr. Martini. Gillian Holroyd casts spells and performs feats of supernaturalism. She even casts a spell over an unattached publisher and he falls head over heels in love with her. Unfortunately, as it turns out, witches aren't allowed to fall in love, which presents a conundrum for dear Gillian.
