The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company's next production is a swashbuckler: the world premiere of 'Zorro!' based on Johnston McCulley's 'The Curse of Capistrano' (1919) adapted by James Rana. Spanish for 'fox,' Zorro fought the oppressive colonial government in Spanish California with a quick sword and wit. Wearing a mask, he kept his identity secret, even to the woman he loved. In 1939, Bob Kane and Bill Finger gave credit to McCulley's masked avenger, with his dual identity, as their inspiration for 'Batman.' Like Bruce Wayne and Batman, Don Diego and Zorro are never seen together at the same time.

The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company is hosting a free juggling class with James Rana on Tuesday, March 18 from 7:00p.m.-8:30p.m. His workshops have been so popular, that the company had to bring him back. Ages 8 on up are welcome, with or without juggling experience. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes, and juggling items will be provided. The workshop is held at The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., where ELTC is in residence.
On Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00p.m., meet 'The Reluctant Dragon' at the West Cape May Elementary School, 301 Moore St., West Cape May, performed by fifteen students under the direction of East Lynne Theater Company's artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth, assisted by Sally Bingham and Lee O'Connor. The script is based on the Kenneth Grahame classic about a poetry-loving dragon and the youngsters who protect him against the townsfolk, and St. George, the famous dragon slayer.

This is the seventh year in a row that Elizabeth and Stuart Hodes are hosting a fundraiser in Manhattan for the nonprofit East Lynne Theater Company. The date is Sunday, January 26 at 3:00p.m. Although ELTC performs mostly in Cape May, NJ, the Hodes are longtime friends of the company, and artistic director Gayle Stahlhuth wrote a two-person play just for them. The musical titled 'The O'Tooles Tonight,' premiered in Cape May in 2000 under Stahlhuth's direction, receiving excellent reviews, including in 'The Newark Star-Ledger.'
