Opening March 18, 2016, this landmark exhibition inaugurates The Met Breuer, ushering in a new phase for the Met's expanded engagement with modern and contemporary art, presented in Marcel Breuer's iconic building on Madison Avenue. With over 190 works dating from the Renaissance to the present—drawn mainly from the Museum's collection, supplemented with major national and international loans—the exhibition demonstrates the type of groundbreaking show that can result when the Museum mines its vast collection and curatorial resources to present modern and contemporary art within a deep historical context.
The fourth season of The Artist Project, the online video series created by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, launched today-Monday, December 7. Each episode in the series features an artist who discusses an individual work of art or gallery at the Met that sparks his or her imagination. The series will be presented in six seasons of 20 episodes each.

Encompassing major monographic and thematic exhibitions, new commissions, performances, and an artist-in-residence series, the inaugural season at The Met Breuer will enable visitors to engage with the art of the 20th and 21st centuries through the global breadth and historical reach of the Met's unparalleled collection and scholarly resources.
This fall, the Penn Libraries explores the world of children's books in two related exhibitions and a symposium. 'Children's books are unique teaching tools that ignite the imagination and bring form and meaning to language for younger and older generations alike,' shared Carton Rogers, Vice Provost and Director of the Penn Libraries. 'We are pleased to celebrate this genre of work, while at the same time acknowledging two very significant donations to our collections, by highlighting the lives and careers of William Steig, a children's book author who wrote stories that overturn traditional fairytale assumptions, and Atha Tehon, a master at collaboration who helped to shape the works of many of the world's best children's book authors. We hope that members of the Penn community as well as the greater art and literary communities are as inspired by these exhibits as we are.'
The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will once more present its popular Summertime Saturday Puppet Shows for family audiences on seven successive Saturdays, June 28-August 9, 2014. Each show will be performed twice, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. All performances will take place at the Ballard Institute at Storrs Center. Admission is $5 for children, $7 for adults. Tickets will be sold at the door on the day of performance.
Music Theatre International (MTI) and iTheatrics recently joined First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House to support The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities' (PCAH) successful Turnaround Arts initiative, a program designed to help turn around low-performing schools, narrow the achievement gap, and increase student engagement through the arts. The program was celebrated at the White House with a special showcase of various schools from around the country who have benefitted from the initiative.
