Vanessa Williams Continues Lincoln Center's 2016 AMERICAN SONGBOOK Season Tonight

Returning for its 17th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook continues to broaden its scope in celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting as interpreted by top performers and rising stars, with events at three Lincoln Center venues. The Appel Room series opens with Vanessa Williams performing in the breathtaking space in Frederick P. Rose Hall tonight, January 20, 2016.

Carol Lipnik Set for Debut Residency at Joe's Pub Ahead of New Album Release

CAROL LIPNIK - the spellbinding, darkly-humorous singer and songwriter recently called an 'ethereal vocal phenomenon' by The New York Times - will mark her debut solo residency at Joe's Pub at The Public with Thursday evening shows on March 3, March 10 and March 17 at 7:00 PM. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 19 at JoesPub.org. Lipnik, who blends folk music and art song with the classic nightclub tradition, will perform a concert celebrating her latest album 'Almost Back To Normal' with an expanded musical palette featuring strings and percussion. In addition, she will premiere original musical compositions. Her music director and pianist Matt Kanelos will lead the band. The show is produced by TWEED TheaterWorks (Lypsinka) and DAX MGMT (Weimar New York, Joey Arias).

Birdland was abuzz this past Thursday night in celebration of Barbara Fasano's fresh-off-the-press CD, Busy Being Free. Industry types table-hopped among civilians--they know a good thing when they hear it--as anticipation swelled. Gift wrapped in tapestry blue, Fasano was accompanied by three of the six excellent musicians on her recording: Musical Director/Pianist/Arranger John di Martino, with Boris Koslov on bass, and Vince Cherico on drums.
