December 13, 2016 continued the favorite return of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for their joyous annual five-week holiday engagement at the New York City Center. Under the artistic direction of Robert Battle, the company continues to reach audiences of all ages, while using dance as a platform to unify and educate. This evening's program did just that!

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2015-16 season award recipients tonight at the 32nd Annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater tour the UK for the first time in 6 years, presented by the amazing Dance Consortium. Hailed by the US Congress as "a vital American cultural ambassador to the world", the company perform original works by the late Alvin Ailey - including his most famous and critically acclaimed piece Revelations - as well works by more contemporary choreographers who contribute to the company's repertory. 

Alvin Ailey American Dance Center is now presenting their 2016 at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater through June 19th. See the company's stunning displays of modern dance that celebrate the African-American cultural experience.

With dynamic movement and dazzling technique, Ailey II debuted a vibrant new season at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, March 30 - April 10.

On Friday, December 4th, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater unveiled Robert Battle's Awakening, his first world premiere since becoming Artistic Director. Grammy-award winning singer Lauryn Hill was in attendance for the debut of the powerful work in which a dozen Ailey dancers lead the audience on a cathartic journey of dissonance and harmony, chaos and resolution. In a word - an Ailey experience is nothing shy of transformational. If ever given the opportunity to take in an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance, a few things are definitely bound to happen. You will be forever changed. Your views and ideologies will be questioned. Your biases and prejudices will be challenged and you will most definitely leave the theatre wanting to experience it again and again and again.

When benevolence, fine artistry and pure movement conjoin, you get Dance Works Unhinged, a benefit concert choreographed and performed by members of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. On Sunday July 20, 2013, the Ailey Citigroup Theater presented an evening of original works for a good cause: the support of the Ailey Dance Resource Fund-ADRF--which provides financial assistance to company members in the form of career transition grants, creative endeavor grants, and emergency loans.

The Ailey dancers invite fans and friends to Dance Works Unhinged, a self-produced performance of original works in the intimate surroundings of The Ailey Citigroup Theater tonight, July 20th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 21st at 3:00 p.m. Ticket proceeds will go to the Ailey Dancers' Resource Fund, which assists current and former company members with grants for career transition, creative endeavors or emergency loans.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Robert Battle has announced casting for the Company's return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts at the David H. Koch Theater from June 12-16, 2013. He has also invited three new dancers to join and perform with the acclaimed 30 member Company during the seven-performance engagement.
