The Royal Conservatory Of Music's 2020-21 Concert Season Announced

Dr. Peter Simon, Michael and Sonja Koerner President & CEO of The Royal Conservatory of Music, Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts, and James Anagnoson, Dean of The Glenn Gould School, today revealed details of the diverse concerts that will make up the 12th concert season at The Royal Conservatory of Music.

San Francisco Opera Announced Upcoming 'Opera Is ON' Streaming Performances

San Francisco Opera's streamed performances continue through Opera is ON with Vincenzo Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi (The Capulets and the Montagues) on Saturday, May 16. Each streamed opera, captured live in high-definition at the War Memorial Opera House, will be viewable on demand at sfopera.com on the streaming date starting at 10 am and expiring at 11:59 pm the following day.

OPERA IS ON To Feature Archival San Francisco Opera Performances

San Francisco Opera announced today that it will stream performances from its archives beginning Saturday, May 9, with Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele. Each streamed opera will be presented on Saturdays at 10 am Pacific time at sfopera.com and remain available until midnight the following day.

MOR Returns To Bay Area With Music By Jake Heggie

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., Music of Remembrance (MOR) presents a concert at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall featuring a rare double bill of works by the incomparable team of composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer. Portland Opera Announces 2020/21 Season

Portland Opera has announced programming for the 2020/21 season, which will open on September 11, 2020. The season will launch in the fall with Robert Xavier Rodríguez's Frida, starring soprano Catalina Cuervo in the title role. This will be followed by the company's fall classic opera, Puccini's enduring drama Tosca, in October and November. The season will continue with a double bill of two pieces honoring the lives of Jewish victims of the Holocaust-Grigori Frid's The Diary of Anne Frank and Jake Heggie's For a Look or a Touch-in early 2021. On March 13, the company will present its annual Big Night concert at the Keller Auditorium. The season will close with Giuseppe Verdi's tour de force opera, Il Trovatore, starring Italian soprano Selene Zanetti in her U.S. debut.

Portland Opera to Host Recital Featuring Baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg

Portland Opera will host a special community recital featuring baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg in his second year as a resident artist with the company. Portland Opera's Chorus Master & Assistant Conductor Nicholas Fox joins Schellenberg on piano. The recital will feature works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Matthew Aucoin, Franz Schubert, and Modest Mussorgsky.

Houston Grand Opera Presents R. Strauss's SALOME

R. Strauss's powerful psychodrama Salome returns to Houston Grand Opera for the first time in 20 years in a production directed by Francisco Negrin. The revolutionary score reinvents Oscar Wilde's biblical drama of a deeply disturbed princess who has fallen in love with Jokanaan (John the Baptist). After he denies her, she performs the infamous and seductive a?oeDance of the Seven Veilsa?? for King Herod in exchange for John's head.

SFCM Announces Vocal And Opera Line-Up For 2020-21 Season

San Francisco Conservatory of Music continues to invest in its Vocal and Opera & Musical Theatre programs, with five new high-profile faculty and guest appointments announced today. In the 2020-21 season, SFCM students will benefit from top-tier mentorship from opera superstar Marilyn Horne and world-renowned collaborative pianist Martin Katz, who will join SFCM as Artists-in-Residence; Grammy Award-winning conductor Joel Revzen, a Metropolitan Opera assistant conductor who will lead the spring opera production; and San Francisco Opera coaches Peter Grunberg and César Cañón, who will join SFCM's collaborative piano faculty. 

The Metropolitan Opera Has Announced its 2020–21 Season

Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced its 2020-21 season, the first in which Yannick Nézet-Séguin assumes his full breadth of musical duties as the company's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducting six productions. His schedule includes the Met premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, the first contemporary opera conducted by the maestro on the Met stage, as part of his ongoing commitment to opera of our time at the Met, which will expand in the seasons to come.

Utah Opera Announces 2020-21 Season

Utah Opera Artistic Director Christopher McBeth today announced the programming and creative teams for Utah Opera's 2020-21 season, sponsored by the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation.
