BWW Review: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at Paramount Theatre Photo BWW Review: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at Paramount Theatre
by Kelly Rogers Flynt - Aug 11, 2018

The Phantom is back, and he's here to bring you dreams and nightmares, music and mystery, opulence and wrath. Cameron Mackintosh's production of The Phantom of the Opera at the Paramount Theatre is a masterpiece of spectacle. From heavily adorned costumes to pyrotechnics to shimmering chandeliers, this show sparkles from top to bottom. The Phantom of the Opera has long reigned as one of the jewels in the pantheon of musical theater. The current national tour retains the beauty of the old while incorporating new technical marvels. The sets and costumes are fit for a palace while the staging ensures that the story is not lost among the grandeur. Compelling and mesmerizing, Phantom hits all the high notes.

BWW Review: PHANTOM Continues to Mesmerize in Reimagined Tour
by Harmony Wheeler - Oct 11, 2016

It's unlikely any current touring show can match this "Phantom" in ornate detail, with its cast's flawless enunciation and its glistening chandelier and proscenium, covered in haunting, golden faces. Anyone familiar with Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" will know what to expect from the familiar characters and promising production values, but this tour delivers that and much more.

BWW Review: National Tour Of Webber's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Is A Dream Come True
by Jeffrey Walker - Jul 25, 2016

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA I just experienced at the Kennedy Center renewed my faith in the show: it is a delight for all the senses, possesses dazzling stagecraft, and is performed by a cast that mines the romance, danger, and intrigue from the story and score. I declare this production a dream come true. Chris Mann, formerly a contestant on THE VOICE headlines the show in the title role, performing with mystery and power. His Christine on the night I attended, Kaitlyn Davis, was stunning, as well.

BWW Interview: Jacquelynne Fontaine of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at Orpheum
by Christine Swerczek - Apr 19, 2016

I am personally excited to see the spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA coming to Omaha this week! Hailed by critics as "bigger and better than ever," Laurence Connor's re-imagination of the longest-running production on Broadway is drawing superlatives: "stunning!" "spectacular!" "brilliant!" "majestic!" and "beautiful!" Because of all the references to beauty, I called Jacquelynne Fontaine, who plays Carlotta, and happens to be a former beauty title holder.

The tech and scale of this North American touring production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA are, in a word, magnificent. It is a spectacle of spectacles, and set designer Paul Brown deserves his own ovation. The sound, brilliantly executed by the Hippodrome techs and cleverly imagined by designer Mick Potter, creates an immersive environment which gives the unseen title character location and substance.

BWW Review: The New Phantom of the Opera Will Always Live in the Original's Shadow
by Alan Henry - Dec 12, 2015

A new version of the iconic eighties mega musical, The Phantom of the Opera, opened tonight in Toronto at The Princess of Wales theatre - just a short distance away from what was once called The Pantages (now the Ed Mirvish) theatre where the original Canadian production of the musical ran for a decade. Considering Phantom is still the longest running musical our city has ever had, it's only natural Torontonians have certain expectations.
