Broadway In Chicago Announces the Winners of the Fifth Annual Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards

In celebration of outstanding achievement in high school musical theater performances, Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce the award recipients of the Fifth Annual Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards: Jack Cahill-Lemme of Park Ridge, IL (Main South High School) as BEST ACTOR for his portrayal of Edward Bloom in BIG FISH and Cecilia Trippiedi of Orland Park, IL (Carl Sandburg High School) as BEST ACTRESS for her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in MY FAIR LADY. Jack and Cecilia will represent the state of Illinois at The Jimmy Awards in New York on June 27, 2016.

Subscriptions to 2016-17 Kravis on Broadway Series on Sale 6/17

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts today announced that subscriptions to the ninth annual series of Kravis On Broadway, which will present a record number of seven smash hits from the Great White Way, including several multiple Tony Award®winners, will go on sale to the public on Friday, June 17, at 10 am.

Christian Borle Will Juggle Both FALSETTOS and CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Broadway World reported earlier today that Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions and Neal Street Productions announced that two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle(Something Rotten, Peter and the Starcatcher) will originate the role of Willy Wonka in the Broadway premiere of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY which begins performances in March 2017.

Michigan native Teri Hansen loves performing in The Sound of Music because the audiences are just as emotionally involved in the show as she is. "When the curtain goes up, there is an audible gasp because of this gorgeous set and beautiful start," she said. "Then we really start to tell this tale; this dangerous and urgent story, yet a love story as well. You can feel the audience right at the beginning of the show and during it they are edging forward on their seats until the end when they are on their feet going right over the mountain with the Von Trapp family."

San Diego Opera is proud to continue its tradition of presenting new or rarely performed works when it presents the west coast premiere of Great Scott, the new opera from composer Jake Heggie (Moby-Dick, Dead Man Walking, Three Decembers) and librettist Terrence McNally (Dead Man Walking, Three Decembers, and the plays Mother and Sons, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Fully Monty). They are joined by veteran stage director and former director of San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, Jack O'Brien, who will stage the opera. Great Scott opens on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 7 PM for four performances at the San Diego Civic Theatre and is a co-production with The Dallas Opera.
