Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 2017/18 season with August Wilson's beloved play, FENCES, the winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play that same year.

A FLEA IN HER EAR at American Players Theatre plays at the Hill Theatre until October 7. Company members of Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater, celebrated the announcement of Chicago's 2017 Joseph Jefferson Award nominations with the listing of several current and past company members. The Joseph Jefferson Awards are Chicago theaters' equivalent to Broadway's Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards. 

Seven world premiere plays seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving nominations by The Jeff Awards. 158 nominations in 33 categories honor Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between August 1, 2016 and July 31, 2017.

Lord Arthur, a pillar of Victorian society, is about to marry the lovely Sybil Merton, his childhood sweetheart, and is deliriously happy at the start of Peninsula Players Theatre's forthcoming comedy, "Lord Arthur Savile's Crime," by Constance Cox, based on a story by Oscar Wilde.  Laughter will fill the theater-in-a-garden August 16 through September 3 while Lord Arthur takes the stage with his muddled murder attempts.  

Audiences will be swept away by the life-changing, four-day love affair in the lush musical 'The Bridges of Madison County' at Peninsula Players Theatre July 26 through August 13, 2017.   One of the most romantic stories ever written, 'The Bridges of Madison County' first captured the nation's attention in 1992 as a best-selling novel, then again in 1995 as a major motion picture.  It is now an irresistible, two-time Tony Award-winning musical.

Due to popular demand, Shattered Globe Theatre's hit Chicago premiere of Sarah Ruhl's FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY will add one additional week of performances, extending through May 27, 2017 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.  Directed by Jessica Thebus, the imaginative and moving drama was written for Ruhl's mother, Kathleen Ruhl, who stars in the Shattered Globe production.
