Italian Dance Connection To Celebrate Fifth Anniversary In NYC

The Italian Dance Connection, IDACOnyc, will return to NYC for its fifth anniversary season, Tuesday, May 21 through Friday, May 24, a platform that connects Italian dancers, choreographers and filmmakers with the international New York dance scene and artistic community. The theme of this year's IDACO Contemporary Dance and Film Event is DIVER/CITY - unity in diversity, an understanding that our differences enrich human interactions.

IN SCENA! Italian Theater Festival NY Announces 10-Minute Plays

The seventh annual In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY will kick off on Monday, April 29 at 7pm at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marim at NYU (24 West 12th Street, New York, NY 10011) with the Opening Night Rainbow Jubilee, an international celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

Italian Theater Festival NY Announces 2019 Mario Fratti Award Winner

In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY announces Tobia Rossi's play Hide and Seek (Nascondino) as the 2019 Mario Fratti Award winner. The award ceremony will take place on Monday, May 13 at 6pm at the Italian Cultural Institute (686 Park Ave, New York, NY 10021) where the reading of the translation of the play, made by the official translator of the award Carlotta Brentan, will be presented together with the award to playwright Tobia Rossi. Special mention goes to Ulisse-L'ultimo Inganno by Antonia Brancati in second place and third place goes to L'Annunciazione by Pasquale Faraco.

Performance Schedule Announced For 7th Annual In Scena! Italian Theater Festival

The New York based Kairos Italy Theater and the Italy-based KIT Italia will present the seventh annual In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, a festival of Italian theater taking place in all five boroughs of NYC, April 29-May 13. Participating venues will include The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance (BAAD! - 2474 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461), Goddard Riverside's Bernie Wohl Center (647 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10024), The Brick Theater (579 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211), Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo at NYU (24 West 12th Street, New York, NY 10011), Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, New York, NY 10014), College of Staten Island (2800 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314), Italian Cultural Institute (686 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10021), La Scuola Guglielmo Marconi (406 East 67th St, New York, NY 10065), St. John's Lutheran Church (81 Christopher Street, New York, NY 10014), and TheaterLab (357 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018), with more venues TBA. Admission to all shows and events in the festival will be FREE. Reservations will open on Sunday, March 10 at  www.inscenany.com.

7th Annual IN SCENA! Italian Theater Festival NY To Return This April

Participating venues will include Cherry Lane Theatre, Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo' at NYU, Bernie Wohl Center, Italian Cultural Institute, The Brick, BAAD!, College of Staten Island, and other venues to be announced. All shows will be presented in Italian with English supertitles. In Scena! will also present the 6th edition of the Mario Fratti Award which is given annually to an unproduced Italian play. Additional events and performance schedules, including a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, will be announced in 2019. Carnegie Hall Presents MIGRATIONS: The Making Of America Festival

From March 9-April 15, 2019, Carnegie Hall presents Migrations: The Making of America, a citywide festival that traces the journeys of people from different origins and backgrounds who helped to shape and influence the evolution of American culture. The five-week festival with more than 100 events will celebrate the many contributions-cultural, social, economic, and political-of the people who helped to build America's culture with musical programming at Carnegie Hall and public programming, performances, exhibitions, and events at more than 70 leading cultural and academic institutions across New York City and beyond.

Italian Puppet Master Mimmo Cuticchio Brings Free Puppet Theater To Chicago

"The Great Duel Between Orlando and Rinaldo for the Beautiful Angelica's Sake" will be performed Oct. 30 in Urbana and Nov. 2 in Chicago   Mimmo Cuticchio, master puppeteer and one of the last true heirs of the Sicilian theatrical tradition of the Opera dei Pupi, brings two free performances of "The Great Duel between Orlando and Rinaldo for the Beautiful Angelica's Sake" to Illinois. The first will take place Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the University of Illinois-Urbana, Foellinger Auditorium, 709 S. Mathews Ave, Urbana, Ill. The second will take place Friday, Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Chicago's Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, Theater East, 915 E. 60th St., on the campus of the University of Chicago. The performances are recommended for ages 4 and up.

Origin Presents Marco Calvani's BEAUTIFUL DAY WITHOUT YOU Off-Broadway Starting November 1

Origin Theatre Company, the city's only theatre company devoted to presenting the American premieres of new works by Europe's brightest contemporary playwrights, presents the world premiere of the acclaimed Italian-born playwright Marco Calvani's new play "Beautiful Day Without You," beginning Thursday November 1. Directed by Erwin Maas, "Beautiful Day Without You" features a cast of three that includes Dan Butler ("Bulldog" on TV's Frasier and last season's "Travesties" on Broadway), Richarda Abrams and Anne Son.

Cimarosa's THE SECRET MARRIAGE Comes to Jackson's Lane Theatre

HGO, North London's leading opera company, presents a new production of Domenico Cimarosa's masterpiece of opera buffa, 'THE SECRET MARRIAGE'.
