Orlando Shakespeare Theater's PlayFest to Run 11/1-3

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF dares audiences to take a risk on new plays at PlayFest from November 1 - 3, 2014. Presented by Harriett's Charitable Trust, the fast-paced weekend is packed with lively discussions, engaging playwright panels, and new play readings, along with a keynote speech from playwright Mark St. Germain (Freud's Last Session and The Best of Enemies)?. This season's event marks the twelfth festival of new plays at the Theater. Tickets to individual PlayFest readings ($5) will be available to the general public on Tuesday, September 30. PlayFest Festival Passes are on sale now, and may be purchased by calling (407) 447-1700 ext. 1, online at www.orlandoshakes.org, or in person at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 East Rollins Street.

Harold Clurman Lab to Premiere Dennis Staroselsky's JUST ABOUT CURED, 9/6-18

The Harold Clurman Lab Theater, the professional wing of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, is proud to present the world premiere of Just About Cured by Dennis Staroselsky. Directed by Ian Morgan, Just About Cured will play from September 6 through 18. The cast includes Kate Marie Frank, Marc Menchaca, Marie Polizzano*, Theo Stockman* and John Wodja*. (*Appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association. This is an Actors' Equity Approved Showcase.) The Lab Theater's recent work includes the off-Broadway run of Israel Horovitz's Lebensraum and, in Los Angeles, the Ovation-nominated run of Long Way Go Down by Zayd Dohrn.

Kevin Kline & Israel Horovitz Set for 92Y's Reel Pieces Film Series, 9/8

Reel Pieces, the 92Y film series moderated by Annette Insdorf, continues on Monday, September 8 with actor Kevin Kline and his new film, My Old Lady. Following a preview screening of My Old Lady, Kline and writer-director Israel Horovitz will discuss the film with Insdorf.

Chloe Brooks, 17, Stars as FANNY BRICE at 13th Street Rep

Playwright Chip Deffaa says he never dreamed, when his musical play "One Night with Fanny Brice," first opened Off-Broadway at St. Luke's Theater in the 2011-2012 season, that the starring role would someday be played by a teenager. Over the past three years, stars in their 30s, 40s, and 60s have played the show, which transferred in 2013 to the 13th Street Repertory Theater. Chloe Brooks, who now stars in the show, after previously serving as an understudy, is just 17.

Estelle Parsons to Star in Palm Beach Dramaworks' MY OLD LADY this Winter

Estelle Parsons, a theatre legend whose illustrious stage career spans six decades, will play a 92-year-old French matron in Palm Beach Dramaworks' production of My Old Lady by Israel Horovitz, which runs from December 5, 2014 through January 4, 2015 at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre (201 Clematis).

Gloucester Stage Company's 35th Anniversary Season continues with Amy Herzog's funny and moving 4000 Miles from July 31 through August 17 at the Gorton Theatre, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Winner of the 2012 Obie Award for Best New American Play and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama Finalist, Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles looks at how two outsiders find their way in today's world. After suffering a major loss while he was on a cross-country bike trip, 21 year-old Leo seeks solace from his feisty 91 year-old grandmother Vera in her West Village apartment in New York City. Over the course of a single month, these unlikely roommates infuriate, bewilder, and ultimately reach each other. Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Eric C. Engel, the production features GSC favorite and Rockport resident Nancy E. Carroll as Vera and Rockport native Tom Rash as Vera's grandson Leo. The reminder of the cast features Sarah Oakes Muirhead, last seen at GSC in 2013's award winning Spring Awakening and GSC newcomer Samantha Ma.

Amphibian Stage Productions opens its second staged reading of the 2014 season, Lebensraum by Israel Horovitz, this Sunday, kicking off a two-performance run of the play. Luke Longacre, Brian Mathis and Alexandra Lawrence star in this infectious comedy running Sunday, June 8 and Monday, June 9 at the Berlene T. and Jarrell R. MUCKRAKERS is a searing examination of modern journalism in an age when nothing seems to be worth keeping private anymore. In the play, the two characters caught up in the political espionage drama are Mira, a young female activist who brings Stephen, a famous and slightly older British political journalist, home to her Brooklyn apartment to spend the night. But as they start to expose each others secrets, personal and political desires collide, testing the limits of privacy in the modern world.
