This event is designed to pique your interest in the preservation, use and future adaptability of Modern Dance Repertory. We will be presenting scenes from a movie in the making, "Living the Legacy of Modern Dance," historical and current repertory and a panel discussion on the current and future state of Modern Dance.

Alison Fraser to Lead Off-Broadway's LOVE THERAPY

Wendy Beckett's new play, LOVE THERAPY will open at the DR2 Theatre (101 East 15th Street) on Monday, April 29th. Directed by Evan Bergman, LOVE THERAPY is the fourth in a series of ten of Ms. Beckett's plays that will be brought across the pacific from Australia by Pascal Productions. Award winning choreographers Ann Reinking and Melissa Thodos are teaming again to co-choreograph A Light in the Dark, the story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, their second full-length contemporary story ballet, this time telling an intimate family story about the extraordinary woman who was deaf and blind yet went on to become a world-famous writer, political activist and inspiration to all.

Berkeley Playhouse to Present GUYS & DOLLS, 3/21-4/28

Berkeley Playhouse continues its fifth season with the Tony Award-winning GUYS AND DOLLS. Jon Tracy (Berkeley Playhouse, Aurora Theatre Company, Shotgun Players, San Francisco Playhouse, Magic Theatre) helms this musical from the Golden Age of Broadway, featuring a cast of 22, and choreography by Chris Black (Berkeley Playhouse, Aurora Theatre Company). Alison Fraser to Lead LOVE THERAPY Reading at TACT Studios, 2/3

Alison Fraser will lead the reading of Wendy Beckett's Off-Broadway - bound production of LOVE THERAPY. This new play, directed by Evan Bergman is the fourth in a series of Ms. Beckett's plays that will be brought across the pacific from Australia by Pascal Productions. The reading takes place on Sunday, February 3rd at 3PM at TACT Studios (900 Broadway at 20th Street - Suite 905) and is open to the public by reservation only. Henning Rübsam's SENSEDANCE Rescheduled For this Coming Sunday

Due to Hurricane Sandy, the last day of performances for Henning Rübsam's SENSEDANCE were canceled. The new re-scheduled performances are this coming Sunday, January 20th, at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance, 126 East 13th Street, NYC.. The company will present two premieres celebrating Henning's 21st year as founding artistic director of his ensemble. The premieres will include, 'obsession | calm' and 'Brahms Dances'. Also on the program will be a reprise of 'Petit Pas' as a tribute to the late Neil Armstrong, whose voice is featured in the work; and 'HALF-LIFE 102'. The Dancers for the season are: Cynthia Dragoni, Erin Ginn, Temple Kemezis, Maria Phegan, Jacqueline Stewart, Uthman Ebrahim, Oisín Monaghan, Juan Rodriguez, Matt Van, and Henning Rübsam.

Nimbus Dance Works announces the third year of its annual holiday tradition: Jersey City Nutcracker. Jersey City Nutcracker tells the story of two children's urban holiday adventure leading them through fantasy, adversity and celebration and teaching them lessons about friendship and community along the way. Choreographed and directed by Nimbus Artistic Director Samuel Pott, this adaption of Tchaikovsky's holiday classic is performed by a stand-out cast of professional dancers from Nimbus Dance Works joined by youth and adults from the community as they portray familiar characters such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Rat King, the Arabian Princess and Drosselmeyer - all with a Jersey City twist! Amidst colorful sets, costumes, a brightly adorned tree, youth and adults alike are touched by this tale of Christmas spirit.

Arena Stage Playwrights' Arena and Kogod Cradle Series Announced

Six D.C.-area playwrights have been selected to participate in the inaugural Playwrights' Arena as part of the American Voices New Play Institute at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Playwrights' Arena is a collaborative group of local writers dedicated to the support and development of each other's work and practice. The yearlong program commences in January 2013, and the inaugural members include Norman Allen, Randy Baker, Jacqueline E. Lawton, Heather McDonald, Danielle Mohlman and Shawn Northrip. Also in January as part of the Institute's programming will be the next installment of the Kogod Cradle Series featuring readings of The Age of Innocence, a new adaptation for the stage by Resident Playwright Karen Zacarías, January 14-16, 2013.
