Max von Essen Joins Starry, Sold-Out Benefit HOLLYWOOD NURSES

It was announced that Tony nominee Max von Essen (An American in Paris, Evita, Les Mis) will play Dr.Brad/Kris in the sold out, one-night-only benefit reading of HOLLYWOOD NURSES, the new pulp comedy written by Sheila Head (Head Games, PBS's 'Cyberchase') and Peter Michael Marino (Desperately Seeking the Exit, Late with Lance!), and directed by Carl Andress (Die, Mommie, Die!, The Tribute Artist). Von Essen joins Golden Globe Award winner Kathleen Turner (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), Tony Award nominee Geneva Carr (Hand to God), Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda) and Taylor Louderman (Kinky Boots).

Irish Rep to Continue New Works Reading Series with CEASEFIRE SOLDIERS

Irish Repertory Theatre continues its 11th season of the New Works Reading Series with a staged reading of Jimmy Murphy's play CEASEFIRE SOLDIERS. Directed by Irish Rep Literary Manager Kara Manning, the reading will take place on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 3:00pm at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage.

Just yesterday, Irish Repertory Theatre presented SONDHEIM AT SEVEN, this season's Gala Benefit production, at The Town Hall. Featuring an introduction by Special Guest Angela Lansbury, SONDHEIM AT SEVEN honored Carmine D. Boccuzzi, Jr., Partner at Cleary Gottlieb LLP, and recognized the extraordinary contributions of Anne Anderson, Ambassador of Ireland to the United States; Barbara Jones, Consul General of Ireland in New York; and David Donoghue, Ambassador of Ireland to the United Nations.

Urban Stages' Board of Directors and founding artistic director Frances Hill presented the 2017 Urban Stages' Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winning legendary set and costume designer Tony Walton.  The celebrated Broadway, TV and film star,  Melissa Errico, ("Billions", My Fair Lady, High Society, Encores' Do I Hear a Waltz?), presented the award to her mentor and close friend, Tony Waltonat the annual benefit at the Boathouse in Central Park.

ANIMAL, Starring Rebecca Hall, Extends at the Atlantic

Atlantic Theater Company has announced that the New York premiere play Animal by Clare Lizzimore (Mint) and directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch (Harper Regan, Bluebird) has been extended an additional week through Sunday, July 2 in advance of officially opening next Tuesday, June 6.

The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) are thrilled to announce the winners of the 62nd Annual Obie Awards®. Jennifer Kidwell & Scott R. Sheppard's Underground Railroad Game, produced by Ars Nova, and J.T. Roger's Oslo, produced by Lincoln Center Theater, shared the Obie Awards for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $500 prize each. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel received a special Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). Martin Moran's OBIE Award-Winning One-Man Show THE TRICKY PART Gets Philadelphia Premiere

After premiering Off-Broadway 13 years ago, The Tricky Part, heads to the City of Brotherly Love for a  two-night limited engagement May 22-23. The true story of a young Martin Moran, The Tricky Part has been called "a translucent memoir of a play … shattering and affecting" by Ben Brantley of The New York Times. This production of The Tricky Part is part of Drexel University's Entertainment & Arts Management Program's Producing Live Entertainment class, led by Drexel professor and Broadway producer Brannon Wiles.
