Andrew Martin's AN APPETIZING YARN Extends at The Duplex This December

Called 'continuously entertaining' by Joe Regan. Jr of TheaterPizzazz.com, and following a triumphant world premiere in August at the 2015 UNFringed Festival at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City, besides a spectacular one-night run at the world-famous Duplex Cabaret Theater (61 Christopher Street, at the crest of 7th Avenue South and West 4th Street) in early November, award-winning writer/entertainer/radio personality Andrew Martin will bring his acclaimed original one-man play AN APPETIZING YARN back to the Duplex by popular demand, on the evenings of Wednesday December 2, Wednesday December 9 and Sunday December 20, with all shows at 9:30 PM.

Irish Arts Center Presents World Premiere Arts Events

Poems and Songs of the Great War will feature singer-songwriter Declan O'ROURKE, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul MULDOON, and historian and broadcaster Myles DUNGAN in three special evenings of music, poetry, and memory inspired by "The War to End All Wars" at Irish Arts Center (553 West 51st Street, New York) on November 19th, 20th, and 21st at 8 pm.

Cast Announced for 2016 PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now Festival This January

Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) and HERE are pleased to announce full casting for the fourth annual PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now festival, running January 6-17, 2016, in New York City. Deemed "suddenly indispensable" (New Yorker), this 'bracingly innovative' Festival, founded, directed, and curated by Kristin Marting (of HERE), Beth Morrison (of BMP), and Kim Whitener (of HERE), has quickly become 'a point of reference" in the field (The New York Times) over three astoundingly successful seasons.

World Premiere Drama CAGED to Open Next Month at Theatre Banshee

Mean Machine Productions and Georganne Aldrich Heller in association with Theatre Banshee have announced the world premiere production of a new drama, CAGED by Dermot Davis. Featuring Elizabeth Lande and Johnny O'Callaghan and directed by Tim Byron Owen, CAGED will play one preview on October 22 at 8pm, with an opening set for Today, October 23 at 8pm. The engagement will run through November 22 only at Theatre Banshee in Burbank.

Staged Readings of LOVES OF PICASSO Set for MOMA's Celeste Bartos Theater Today

Veteran producer Pat Addiss (Buyer and Cellar, Love Letters) and Georganne Aldrich Heller (Howie the Rookie-Bam, Silent, Forgotten) president of Irish Theatre & Film Production (georgannealdricheller.com) have announced that they will join forces in presenting two invitation only, special staged readings of 'Loves of Picasso' written and directed by Terry D' Alfonso. The two readings will be held on October 9th at 2PM and 5pm at MOMA to coincide with museum's opening of the largest ever Picasso sculpture exhibit that same week. The script is based on the private life of Picasso, the women he loved and will include video installations conceived by Terry D' Alfonso.

St. Ann's Warehouse Opens New Waterfront Theater Under Brooklyn Bridge

The new St. Ann's Warehouse was unveiled in a ceremony this morning! The $31.6 million, 25,000 sf. theater, at the breathtaking site of the pre-Civil War Tobacco Warehouse under the Brooklyn Bridge, will make Brooklyn Bridge Park a home for culture for future generations.

PONDLING, 'LITTLE THING' and STOOPDREAMER Top Origin's 1st Irish Award Nominations; Ceremony Set for 9/28

The 8th annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival is announcing today that two productions from Ireland -- "Pondling" and "Little Thing, Big Thing" (both at 59E59 Theaters), and one from New York -- "Stoopdreamer" at the cell -- each attracted five nominations for the festival's top honors, which will be handed out an Awards Ceremony co-hosted by the Broadway actress Geraldine Hughes at Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue, on Monday September 28 at 7pm. The Festival continues through Sunday October 4.

Laoisa Sexton's THE PIGEON IN THE TAJ MAHAL Set for Irish Repertory Theatre's 'New Works Series'

Irish playwright and actress Laoisa Sexton's new play THE PIGEON IN THE TAJ MAHAL has been selected by the Irish Repertory Theatre for inclusion into it's esteemed Fall 2015 New Works Reading Series and will run on Friday, October 2 , 2015 at 3 pm at the DR2 Theatre, 103 East 15th Street in Union Square. The reading will be free of cost and open to the public but reservations are requested and strongly advised. Irish Rep's Reading Series to Open 10th Season with THE PIGEON IN THE TAJ MAHAL

The Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director; Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) proudly begins the 10th season of its Reading Series with Laoisa Sexton's THE PIGEON IN THE TAJ MAHAL, directed by the Irish Rep's Literary Manager, Kara Manning.  The staged reading will take place on Friday, October 2 at 3pm at the DR2 Theater, 103 East 15th Street (the Irish Repertory Theatre's temporary home during current renovations).  The reading is FREE and open to the public.  An RSVP to the Irish Repertory Theatre Box Office at (212) 727-2737 is strongly suggested.

Des Bishop to Launch New Chinese Comedy Venture

 How do you keep up with this guy?  The peripatetic Irish-American comedian and television star Des Bishop is relocating to New York where he is preparing to launch a new Chinese comedy scene in his native Flushing in September.  The initiative will trade on the success of Bishop's groundbreaking Beijing comedy club, which still hosts China's first and only stand-up comedy night.

Annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival Highlights Announced

Comedy in many varieties will be the common refrain of the 8th annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival running from September 2 to October 4. In all seven mainstage productions seen in competition (4 US premieres, 3 world premieres), plus seven special events out-of-competition will make up the five-week, month-long festival.

Fishamble: The New Play Company to Bring LITTLE THING, BIG THING to 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters will welcome the return of Fishamble: The New Play Company (Dublin, Ireland) with the US premiere of LITTLE THING, BIG THING written by Donal O'Kelly and directed by Jim Culleton. Part of Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival, LITTLE THING, BIG THING begins performances on Wednesday, September 2 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 27.  Press opening is Tuesday, September 8 at 7:15 PM.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:15 PM; Friday at 8:15 PM; Saturday at 2:15 PM & 8:15 PM; and Sunday at 3:15 PM.
