New Festival Dedicated to Fighting Islamophobia

GOOD WORKS PRODUCTIONS in association with AIZZAH FATIMA proudly present the premiere of The Lady Liberty Theater Festival, featuring Aizzah Fatima's critically-acclaimed solo show Dirty Paki Lingerie, presented alongside two short plays by Monica Bauer: Lady Liberty's Worst Day Ever and No Irish Need Apply. The three week limited engagement will take place at Urban Stages (259 West 30th Street, New York, NY 10001) from Wednesday, September 7th through Sunday, September 25th, 2016. On Sunday, September 11th, 2016 the festival will present a day of free staged readings that focus on the Muslim experience in America. Irish Arts Center Announces Fall 2016 Season

Today, Irish Arts Center (IAC), the arts and cultural center dedicated to projecting a dynamic image of Ireland and Irish America for the 21st century, announces the lineup for its fall 2016 season, September 8 - December 17. IAC takes great pride in showcasing a broad range of some of Ireland's greatest artistic talent, in collaborating with American artists and arts institutions alike, and continuing to strengthen the transatlantic bonds of Irish-American culture. Featuring the works of several frequent IAC collaborators, including Paul Muldoon,Cassandra Wilson, Declan O'Rourke and Christine Tobin, as well as the premiere of several new works, the season epitomizes the dynamic vision IAC has for Irish culture in America at the outset of Ireland's centenary year of independence.

Storyteller Thomas Pryor to Present Father's Day Show 'at Ryan's Daughter, 6/17

Author / storyteller  Thomas R. Pryor ('I Hate the Dallas Cowboys: tales of a scrappy New York boyhood' - YBK Publishers) brings his 'Stoops to Nuts,' storytelling show back to his beloved neighborhood, Yorkville, for  "Where's Poppa" - a  Father's Day  celebration on Friday,  June 17th  at Ryan's Daughter in Manhattan at 7:00pm.

Colin Gee & Angie Smalis Set for Abrons Arts Center's Travelogues Series, 5/6-8

Abrons Arts Center presents Colin Gee and Angie Smalis in Chaplet of Roses and They Go Out in Joy, two works developed from fragments of the past. In the case of Chaplet of Roses, it is a 15th-century tapestry; in They Go Out in Joy, it is a collection of photos of Irish emigrants. The performance is part of Abrons' Travelogues dance series, curated by Laurie Uprichard. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, at 7:30pm, and Sunday, May 8, at 3pm, at Abrons Arts Center's Experimental Theater.  Promotional support provided by Irish Arts Center.

Summer on the Hudson Sets 2016 Schedule

NYC Parks and Summer on the Hudson (SOH) today announced the 2016 schedule of festival events. Free to the public, SOH events, held in Riverside Park and West Harlem Piers Park, bring alive the western stretch of Manhattan greenspace from 59th Street to 181st Street. With more than 200 events this summer, New Yorkers of all ages can enjoy outdoor activities spanning music, film, dance, health and wellness and so much more. 

U.S. Premiere of A GIRL IS A HALF-FORMED THING Set for Baryshnikov Arts Center

Baryshnikov Arts Center and the Irish Arts Center join forces to present the U.S. premiere of A Girl is a Half-formed Thing, Annie Ryan's stark and courageous adaptation of Eimear McBride's award-winning novel, starring Aoife Duffin, for ten performances only, April 20 through April 30, at Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC)'s Jerome Robbins Theater, 450 West 37th Street.

Camille O'Sullivan Returning to Irish Arts Center, 4/6-16

Having played a sold out run in the fall of 2014, the acclaimed Irish/French singer/actress Camille O'Sullivan will return to New York's intimate Irish Arts Center with an eight-show residency from April 6-16. Camille's dramatic, original interpretations of songs by Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Arcade Fire and Radiohead, and love of narrative storytelling have critics around the world raving. "When she sings it's as though her breath is soaked in paraffin - one spark and the whole room would ignite," writes The Daily Telegraph.

Singers Claudia Boyle, Robin Adams and Katherine Manley, actor Mikel Murfi, and an ensemble of New York's finest contemporary players, conducted alternately by André de Ridder and Alan Pierson, will deliver this “searingly powerful new chamber work” (The Guardian). Presented by St. Ann's Warehouse and co-presented withPROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now andIrish Arts Center, The Last Hotel comes to New York after tremendously acclaimed engagements at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Dublin Theatre Festival and the Royal Opera House in London.

TADA! to Present THE GUMBALL GANG in 2016

?TADA! will kick off its 2016 season with THE GUMBALL GANG: Crime-Solving Kids, from January 22 - February 15 at TADA! 15 West 28th Street. The original musical, with Book, Music & Lyrics by JIM COLLERAN, will be Directed & Choreographed by TADA!'s Associate Artistic Director & Resident Choreographer, JOANNA GREER, with Musical Direction by MATTHEW GREGORY. Andrew Martin's AN APPETIZING YARN Extends at The Duplex This Month

Called 'continuously entertaining' by Joe Regan. Jr of TheaterPizzazz.com, and following a triumphant world premiere in August at the 2015 UNFringed Festival at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City, besides a spectacular one-night run at the world-famous Duplex Cabaret Theater (61 Christopher Street, at the crest of 7th Avenue South and West 4th Street) in early November, award-winning writer/entertainer/radio personality Andrew Martin will bring his acclaimed original one-man play AN APPETIZING YARN back to the Duplex by popular demand, on the evenings of Today December 2, Today December 9 and Sunday December 20, with all shows at 9:30 PM.

Kennedy Center Now Accepting Submissions for TINY PLAYS FOR IRELAND AND AMERICA

The Kennedy Center today announced that it is now accepting new play submissions for Tiny Plays for Ireland and America, as part of its upcoming international festival Ireland 100: Celebrating a Century of Irish Arts and Culture. In March 2016, the Kennedy Center will select six "tiny" plays (500 words or less) that are representative of John F. Kennedy's legacy as it lives on in the country today to present as staged readings in the Terrace Gallery from May 24 - 25, 2016, followed by a performance at the Irish Arts Center in New York City on May 26, 2016. Selected playwrights will receive a $500 honorarium, one pair of tickets to attend their play in DC and NYC, round-trip travel and hotel accommodations, an invitation to participate in a post-show Q & A, and a bound copy of all plays selected for performance.
