On Monday, June 27, 2011, New York Theatre Barn will present its monthly platform, now in its 4th year, for emerging musical theatre writers at the D-Lounge (at the Daryl Roth Theater).
Yank!, which played the York Theatre off Broadway in the 2009-2010 season and which has an eye for Broadway will be given a workshop this fall in NYC, backed by the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. The workshop will run from October 10 through November 10, 2011. According to casting notices, actors for all parts are being sought.
Nick Cearley, who originated the role of Randall, the perspiring actor-singer-songwriter-dancer-secretary in the 'one-man musical whirwind' ...And Then I Wrote a Song About It, will reprise his role at Diversionary in the west coast premiere March 25-April 10. Diversionary will produce the new musical as the 5th show in its 2010-2011 season. ...And Then I Wrote a Song About It had its world premiere at the acclaimed New York City area theatre Luna Stage last November, directed by Igor Goldin. Goldin will direct the Diversionary production (he directed Yank! and The New Century for Diversionary).
BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the Roundabout Theatre Company will produce a workshop of Yank!, a WWII musical. The York Theatre Company premiered the show last season and since its critically acclaimed reception, buzz has been swirling about a Broadway transfer as early as next season. Original Yank! cast member Bobby Steggert will be reprising his role in the upcoming workshop. New cast members include Santino Fontana, Morgan Spector, Michael Berresse, Nellie McKay, Jeff Hiller, Tally Sessions, Colt Prattes, Derrick Trumbly, Jeremy Cohen, Tyler Maynard, Cole Escola, Brad Bass, Cody Williams and Colin Bradbury.

Starring Louis Hobson, who played the role of Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine in Next to Normal since the musical's pre-Broadway engagement at Arena Stage in 2008. The concert also featured the following cast members from the out of town run: Ashley Kate Adams (reprising her role from NYMF), Megan Kane, Wade Elkins, Derek Carley, Joshua Moore, Bradley Gale, Britt Mack and Maggie Politi. Directed by Igor Goldin and musically directed by Patrick Dorow. The book was written by Dane Leeman, who also narrated the night and Billy Butler. Music and lyrics by Billy Butler.
