Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts Announces 2016-2017 WORLD OF DANCE Series

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College is pleased to announce its 2016-17 World of Dance series. Since its inception in 1966, this series has showcased new works by more than 175 regional, national, and international companies. This year's lineup features the latest production from Buenos Aires tango company Estampas Porteñas, a celebration of the Chinese Year of the Rooster by the prestigious Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, and the much-anticipated returns of the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica and Step Afrika!.

North Carolina Theatre announces the summer production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins. Leading the cast in her North Carolina Theatre debut is Broadway sensation Kara Lindsay as everyone's favorite nanny, 'Mary Poppins' alongside Nicolas Dromard. NC native Eric Woodall is set to direct with choreography by Ryan Kasprzak. NC Theatre's production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins will play July 26-31, 2016 at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.  BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

The Marlowe Theatre's Pantomime Producer Wins Award in United States

Paul Hendy's The Last Laugh was named Best Comedy Drama at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival. The short film features comedians Eric Morecambe (played by Bob Golding), Tommy Cooper (Damian Williams) and Bob Monkhouse (Simon Cartwright) in a dressing room discussing the secrets of comedy - but the dressing room isn't all as it seems.

Malibu Playhouse Presents MONSTER

Malibu Playhouse presents a six-week run, October 12 through November 13, of 'Monster" a 'You, the Jury," performance, a unique West of Broadway/Malibu Playhouse co-production, written and produced by Diane Namm, where the audience acts as the jury in a staged courtroom drama and votes for the innocence or guilt of the defendant.  "Monster' written by Walter Dean Myers, was a National Book Award finalist and is found on most high school reading lists.

The 5th Avenue Theatre New Works Program will bring a new kind of festival to Seattle's vibrant arts community this summer with its inaugural NextFest: A Festival of New Musicals. Taking place in the historic theater's rehearsal halls and studios July 20-August 15, 2015, NextFest is a celebration of new musicals at various stages of development ranging from a first read-through of new text and music all the way to a fully staged studio presentation of a work.

American Composers Orchestra Opens Carnegie Hall Season Tonight

Under the leadership of Music Director George Manahan, American Composers Orchestra (ACO) returns to Carnegie Hall for the 11th season of its Orchestra Underground series, which explores the orchestra as an elastic ensemble that can respond to composers' unhindered creativity. ACO's first performance this season, titled Orchestra Underground: Monk's Sphere, tonight, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall is part of Meredith Monk's season-long residency as holder of Carnegie Hall's Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair.

The program will include a performance of Monk's Night as well as world premieres of Clear Image by experimental rock-guitarist Ian Williams, Motormouth by A.J. McCaffrey, and My Brightest Garment by Theo Bleckmann (commissioned by Carnegie Hall). The concert will also include the New York premiere of Stalks, Hounds by Loren Loiacono. Theo Bleckmann and Ian Williams will join members of Meredith Monk and Vocal Ensemble as special guests for this exhilarating concert.

It's a musical theater nerd's paradise and as a nerd one of my favorite times of the year. Village Theatre has once again brought together an incredible weekend of new works for workshop readings and one full production. Five shows put up for one performance as readings with music stands and scripts in hand and then one larger production put up for two weekends. And while the weekend may be over (and only for members anyway) there's still time to see the larger production and I've got some wonderful photos for you all. But let's start with the production you can still see and then we'll move onto the workshops.

Alpha/Omega Players to Present JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, 8/1-10

The Alpha/Omega Players will present the International Hit Musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lyrics by Tim Rice, August 1, 2, 8, 9 @ 8 pm and August 3, 10 @ 3pm in The Alpha/Omega Performing Arts Center, 301 E. First Street, Birdsboro, PA.

The Village Theatre Will Premiere Six Brand New Musicals in Development, 8/8-17

The Village Theatre is the birthplace of new works such Next to Normal and Million Dollar Quartet. And now, it has announced its lineup for the 14th Annual Village Originals Festival of New Musicals, which runs from Aug 8 to 17. They will be showcasing six new musicals which have been under development.
