HeadFirst Productions presents a new multi-arts festival at The Pleasance Theatre, titled A Festival of Sex, Love and Death. The festival brings five events from eight companies, including three double bills, to Islington for ten days this autumn.

Proudly representing BC's performers, each year the UBCP/ACTRA Awards Gala honours five members for work done in the past year. This peer-adjudicated performer awards show shines the spotlight on the talented performers here in BC, and provides an opportunity for industry professionals to share in the celebration with the nominees and winners. The Kennedy Center presents the New Adventures North American tour of Matthew Bourne's critically acclaimed production of The Red Shoes, October 10 to 15, 2017. The tour will continue to Blumenthal Performing Arts, Charlotte and City Center, New York; having already played at Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles.

City Lit Theater Company, in association with the American Library Association's Office of Intellectual Freedom, will present BOOKS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK, a celebration of BANNED BOOKS WEEK, September 24 - 30, 2017, at various locations in and around Chicago. Thanks to increased support from funding sources, the number of performances has been doubled for the 2017 festival over the 2016 schedule. All events are free to the public.

City Lit Theater's 38th season will embrace Chicago's first look in a century at an Irish classic, a rarely done Pulitzer winner performed by a non-traditional cast composed entirely of women over 55, a new adaptation by a three-time Jeff-winning adapter of one of the great 19th Century novels, setting its story in a new time and place; and theCity Lit debuts of both the world's first playwright and Chicago's most esteemed translator, retelling an ancient myth through a cast of human actors and life-sized puppets.

Book-It Repertory Theatre will open its 28th season with a stage adaptation of Dr. Maya Angelou's masterpiece I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Founding Co-Artistic Director Myra Platt originally adapted and directed this piece for its 2003 world premiere at Book-It. Platt is thrilled to collaborate with Malika Oyetimein who will direct and join Platt as co-adapter on a new script for 2017.

Rorschach Theatre announces the cast and designers for its revival of NEVERWHERE (2013), Robert Kauzlaric's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's modern cult classic about a man who stumbles upon adventure in a dangerous and magical world that exists below the streets of London. The ensemble cast will include returning cast members Sarah Taurchini as Door and Daniel Corey as Richard Mayhew. The design team will include cutting-edge set and projections design collective Pixelumen Lab.

Lord Arthur, a pillar of Victorian society, is about to marry the lovely Sybil Merton, his childhood sweetheart, and is deliriously happy at the start of Peninsula Players Theatre's forthcoming comedy, "Lord Arthur Savile's Crime," by Constance Cox, based on a story by Oscar Wilde.  Laughter will fill the theater-in-a-garden August 16 through September 3 while Lord Arthur takes the stage with his muddled murder attempts.  

From September 20th to October 1st, 2017, Theatre Inamorata lures us into the opulent and sensual world of contemporary art to present the World Premiere of Gray.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today the winners of the 2017 NYMF Awards for Excellence, which were awarded on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Hudson Terrace (621 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036). The 2017 NYMF Award for Best Musical Sponsored by Play-by-Play was awarded to GENERATION ME, with the Show-Score Best of Fest Awards for Readings, Concerts/Events and Productions, going to CHRISTMAS IN HELL, DORIAN GRAY, and ERROL AND FIDEL, respectively. GENERATION ME took home the most awards, with GEORAMA: AN AMERICAN PANORAMA TOLD ON 3 MILES OF CANVAS, ERROL AND FIDEL, and FREEDOM RIDERS taking home multiple prizes as well.

HEADLESS - a modern gothic rock-opera ghost story that revisits author Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow from co-writers Bradley Bredeweg (Freeform's 'The Fosters,' Showtime's 'Intersection,' Bill Condon's Side Show on Broadway) and Brad Hooks (Freeform's 'The Fosters') - will be the focus of a new work development lab that will explore the score, story and new stage technology over the course of two and a half weeks at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (The Wallis) in Beverly Hills. The lab will launch on Thursday, July 6 and will culminate with closed presentations today, July 22 and Sunday, July 23 (presentations by private invitation only).
