It's been one year since Dallas-based lounge/jazz singer Laura Ainsworth (www.lauraainsworth.com) released her critically-acclaimed third album, New Vintage. It turned out to be a roller coaster year that took a disheartening plunge before climbing towards new heights with her upcoming national cable TV debut and multiple award nominations.

In 1989, Billy Bob's Texas began a tradition of enshrining those entertainers who sold out the award-winning “Night Club of the Year” by having the celebrity dip their hands in a concrete slab along with adding their signature. Since that time, some of the biggest names in Country Music have done the same, from Dottie West, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, and Randy Travis to Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Cole Swindell, and now - Midland!

Broadway director and writer Gordon Greenberg has revised the book for Meet Me In St. Louis at The Muny. Performances began August 4 and will run until August 12. This production, the 8th in Muny history, will also include several songs new to the stage adaptation of Meet Me In St. Louis, including 'Boys and Girls Like You and Me,' a song written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for Oklahoma! and then recorded for, but ultimately cut, from the film of Meet Me In St. Louis. This production will also include the first stage use of 'You and I,' a song in the film by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed.

The Old Globe today announced casting as its 2018-2019 Season kicks off with the world premiere of The Heart of Rock & Roll, inspired by the music of Huey Lewis and the News.

LOVE CANON brings their acoustic-roots sensibilities to the electronic-tinged pop hits of the 80s and 90s to create Cover Story, their 4th album, due out on Organic Records July 13, 2018. On June 1, Artistry Music, A Mack Ave Label will release Soul Side of Town, Tower of Power's 25th album- a cranial-crushing funk amalgamation of soul, vintage R&B, groove, pop and rock.  It's the centerpiece for a celebratory 50th Anniversary campaign that includes the re-release of four hard to find independent productions  The East Bay Archive Vol. 1 (a 1973 live recording from Boston), Oakland Zone (a 2008 release celebrated for the return of drummer David Garibaldi after several years away), Great American Soulbook (an all-star affair of soul classics featuring guests such as Joss Stone, Tom Jones, Sam Moore and Huey Lewis), and 40th Anniversary: Live at The Fillmore in San Francisco (a deluxe multi-disc CD/DVD collector's item loaded with great new live renditions of hits plus interviews with alumni past and present).

The second Wednesday in June marks a special evening of acoustic blues, a concert honoring the roots of the blues while sharing the music of those working at the forefront of the genre.

Paul Thorn released on Friday his first-ever gospel album Don't Let The Devil Ride, available everywhere via Thirty Tigers. A collection of soulful songs originally recorded by black southern gospel groups, Don't Let The Devil Ride was co-produced by Billy Maddox and Colin Linden and recorded in three legendary locations: Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, and Preservation Hall in New Orleans. Don't Let The Devil Ride features contributions from the Blind Boys of Alabama, The McCrary Sisters, the Preservation Hall Jazz Horns and Bonnie Bishop. Today, Thorn shared the video for 'You Got To Move,' debuted by Glide Magazine, which features special behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the album at these legendary studios.
