After The Vagrancy's daring production of Maria Irene Fornes' WHAT OF THE NIGHT that earned the company three OVATION AWARD nominations, the Los Angeles based theatre company proudly prepares to take on Shakespeare's deliciously murderous MACBETH, cut, conceived, and directed by Artistic Director Caitlin Hart this coming October.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theatre of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, continues its 50th Anniversary Season, Golden, with the world premiere production of "Criers for Hire," by playwright Giovanni Ortega and directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera.

One of the hottest tickets in Los Angeles every year is the inspiring 15-minute musicals developed at New Musicals Inc. There are seven musicals this year, having their world premiere on June 29, 30, and July 1 at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood. These musicals are a decades-long tradition at the NMI's Academy for New Musical Theatre.

The special performance, which benefits the programs of Playwrights' Arena, celebrates the works of Los Angeles' most adventurous resident composers and lyricists writing for the theater today and honors Andrea Cockrum (community leader), Henry Ong (playwright)) and Lisa Wolpe (actor/director and artist director of LA Women's Shakespeare Company) with the *Lee Melville Award for their outstanding contribution to the Los Angeles theatre community.
