Chicago Philharmonic to Present Ryan Speedo Green In Concert In October

The Chicago Philharmonic Society will welcome two-time Grammy Award winning bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green in a concert showcasing selections from opera and musical theater, one night only; Saturday, October 14 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.

The 2023 George London Award Winners Are Announced; Five Young Opera Singers Win $12,000 Prize

The winners of the 51st George and Nora London Foundation Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers, one of the opera world's oldest and most prestigious competitions, were announced at the conclusion of the competition's final round this evening, which took place at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City. The event took place before an in-person audience for the first time since 2020, and was also livestreamed.

Houston Grand Opera Announces New $22 Million Fund Within The HGO Endowment

At tonight's annual Concert of Arias, the 35th Annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers, Houston Grand Opera announced that Sarah and Ernest Butler have created a new fund within the HGO Endowment valued at $22 million, the largest philanthropic investment in the 68-year history of the organization. The company also announced that its acclaimed training program for young artists has been renamed the Sarah and Ernest Butler Houston Grand Opera Studio.

The Curtis Institute of Music Announces and Artist Residency and Public Recital with Warren Jones

Internationally acclaimed pianist, master teacher, chamber musician, conductor, and vocal coach Warren Jones, comes to the Curtis Institute of Music, February 13–⁠17, 2023, for a highly-anticipated artist residency featuring a private master class in collaboration with Curtis’s distinguished vocal studies and piano studies departments led by Miloš Repický, Hirsig Family Chair in Vocal Studies and Amy Yang, associate dean of piano studies and artistic initiatives.

MasterVoices Presents O HOW GOOD Featuring Jewish Sacred Music, A World Premiere By Daniel Rein And More

MasterVoices continues its eclectic 2022-23 season on March 23 at Central Synagogue with Ted Sperling leading O How Good, a performance of Jewish sacred music. The program includes two beloved works of traditional Jewish liturgy set by master composers – Ernest Bloch's Sacred Service and Kurt Weill's Kiddush – as well as the world premiere of And the Sun Goes Up, a new work by Israeli-American composer Daniel Rein, commissioned by MasterVoices.  

Portland Opera Will Present Powerful New Opera THUMBPRINT This March

Portland Opera continues the 22/23 season with Thumbprint, an opera inspired by the true story of Mukhtar Mai—a trailblazing Pakistani activist. The libretto, written by Susan Yankowitz, originates from a series of interviews with Mai, paired with a score by Kamala Sankaram that is a dynamic collision of Hindustani and European opera influences.

Opera Orlando Receives National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Grant

Opera Orlando has been approved for a $10,000 (ten thousand dollar) Grants for Arts Projects award to support the Opera’s 2023-24 season production of Frida to be presented in Steinmetz Hall at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Houston Grand Opera Presents Sensory-Friendly MONKEY AND FRANCINE IN THE CITY OF TIGERS Next Month

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will present a sensory-friendly performance of Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers, part of its Opera to Go! series specifically designed to create a welcoming and supportive environment for families with members on the autism spectrum and other sensory sensitivities, at the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC on Saturday, February 4. The event is free and open to the public.
