Bereits 14 Jahre ist es her, seit die Berlin Comedian Harmonists mit „Veronika, der Lenz ist da“ einen großen Erfolg feierten. Damals erlebten die legendären Comedian Harmonists in Berlin ein doppeltes Comeback: Gleichzeitig kamen sowohl der Film mit Meret und Ben Becker ins Kino als auch das Theaterstück von Franz Wittenbrink auf die Bühne der Komödie am Kurfürstendamm. Die Geschichte des Stücks begann mit großen Zweifeln. Gegen den Film mit seinen Stars und seiner Opulenz schien der Auftritt der sechs jungen und unbekannten Musiker hoffnungslos im Hintertreffen. Doch es kam anders: „Das Theater zieht die Live-Trumpfkarte. Den lebendigen Klang sticht nichts aus, und diese sechs Musiker werden bald auch Stars sein.“, hieß es in der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung. Heute ist dies eine Tatsache. Über 80 Jahre nach dem Original sind die Berlin Comedian Harmonists zu einem ebenso erfolgreichen Vokalsextett geworden.
