Alloy Orchestra Plays Original Score To Silent Film PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) will present a musical performance from Alloy Orchestra, accompanying the silent film "The Phantom of the Opera," on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. Held in the Hoffman Auditorium on USJ's West Hartford campus, the show will be preceded by a pre-show talk at 7 p.m. entitled, "The Good and Evil of Phantom of the Opera," by USJ Professor of Psychology Elizabeth Vozzola, Ph.D.

Pompano Beach Cultural Center/ Opera Fusion Presents Comic Opera Don PASQUALE

Opera Fusion is delighted to announce a special one night only performance of Gaetano Donizetti's comic masterpiece Don Pasquale at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center on February 16, 2019 at 7:30 pm. This rambunctious romp, a co-production of Opera Fusion and Gulfshore Opera, is fully staged in two acts and accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The production stars South Florida coloratura soprano Laura Leon as Norina, American bass Tony Dillon as Don Pasquale and tenor Zackery Morris, as Ernesto. Put together two super actor/singers to perform The Songs Of Kander & Ebb and it's like Mantle and Maris hitting back to back homers in the world series. Oops, I promised myself I would avoid the Baseball references, however watching Haley Swindal you cannot help but wonder how this enormously talented lady became such an exciting entertainer coming from a sports/business family. Then again, George Steinbrenner did create exciting entertainment for millions with the Yankee franchise and he was also an avid fan and investor in Broadway shows.

Dallas Museum Of Art Announces 2018 Acquisition And Program Highlights

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) continued to strengthen and expand its exhibitions and educational programming, bilingual offerings, and curatorial team in 2018 with the appointment of new leadership across departments, the development of expanded education initiatives, and the acquisition of major works across its collections. In support of the DMA's commitment to engaging the community through programs anchored by its collections, three new curators and a new director of education joined the Museum in 2018, and the Museum expanded its off-site and bilingual program offerings. The Museum also added significant works to its collection, including 13 year-end gifts of 512 works of art in contemporary art, sculpture, photography, and the decorative arts.

Boston Ballet presents George Balanchine's Coppelia, a full-length comedic story ballet about love, mistaken identity, and foolhardy fun. Coppelia, set to music by Leo Delibes, runs March 21-31 at the Boston Opera House.

The Public Theater will begin previews for the New York premiere of SEA WALL / A LIFE with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Friday, February 1. Written by Simon Stephens and Nick Payne respectively, and directed by Carrie Cracknell, SEA WALL / A LIFE will run through Sunday, March 31 in The Public's Newman Theater with an official press opening on Thursday, February 14. SEA WALL / A LIFE features Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge in their Public Theater debuts.
