MUSE/IQUE Summer Series Continues With MOVEMENT/ALOUD

Bay Street Theater Presents Charles Busch: My Kinda '60s

Film Composer Nan Schwartz to Release New Symphonic Music Album

The world premiere recording of original symphonic music by Grammy® Award-winning composer Nan Schwartz has been released on the Divine Art label (DDA 25165, March 16, 2018). Kevin Purcell conducts the 83-piece Bratislava Studio Symphony Orchestra (Slovakia) and Synchron Stage Orchestra (Vienna). The recording features four works by Ms. Schwartz: Aspirations, Perspectives, Romanza and Angels Among Us, with solo contributions from the Who's-who of New York's finest jazz musicians.

Acclaimed ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop Celebrates 30th Year Of Producing Top-Tier Screen Composers

ASCAP, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today kicks off its renowned annual ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop for an historic 30th year. Mentored by Emmy Award-winning composer Richard Bellis and produced by ASCAP Film & TV executives Michael Todd and Jennifer Harmon, the comprehensive 4-week program in Los Angeles is known in Hollywood circles for grooming some of the film and TV industry's top composers, connecting them with agents, music supervisors, attorneys and A-list Hollywood studio executives. The 12 composer participants for this year's program were revealed today.

Rite of Summer Music Festival continues its eighth stellar season with DITHER performing two free shows today, July 7th at 1pm and 3pm. The program will feature works by Eve Beglarian, Josh Lopes, Lisa Renee Coons, Gyan Riley, James Moore, and Taylor Levine. Taking place at Colonels Row on Governors Island, Rite of Summer presents free outdoor concerts through August curated by Co-Artistic Directors Pam Goldberg and Blair McMillen. In a locale The New York Times has called a "Playground for the Arts," the aim of the Festival is simple: to present the highest quality live performances, and to bring free contemporary classical music to as many people as possible in a relaxed, fun, outdoor setting.

Film Composer John Powell Recognized With ASCAP Henry Mancini Award; Composer Germaine Franco Receives ASCAP Shirley Walker Award

ASCAP, the American Society of Composer, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, celebrated the composers of the past year's most performed music in TV, film and video games last night at the 33rd annual ASCAP Screen Music Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. John Powell, a prolific composer who has scored more than 60 films - including the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story - was awarded the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of film and television music.

Conductor Andre Raphel Named Conductor Laureate Of The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra

Andre Raphel, Music Director of the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra for the past fifteen years, was honored with the title of Conductor Laureate on Wednesday evening, May 2 at a recognition ceremony taking place in Wheeling, West Virginia.    On May 18, he will conduct the Wheeling Symphony in its season finale program featuring Respighi's "Pines of Rome" and works by Dvorak, Beethoven and Richard Strauss. The concert is to be followed by a public celebration.
