'Dreamgirls' - Musical Masterpiece At Stage Aurora

'Dreamgirls' is the rags-to-riches story following an all-girl singing trio from Chicago called The Dreamettes (in later years they are called The Dreams.) The story of the Dreams is partially inspired by the real-life Motown group the Supremes, before they became known as Diana Ross And The Supremes.

According to NYTimes.com, the lineup for New York Stage and Film and Vassar College's 23rd Powerhouse summer theater season will include productions of John Patrick Shanley's Romantic Poetry: A Musical Play, featuring a score by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls) and starring Mark Linn-Baker and Idina Menzel, Stephen Belber's (Match) new play, Geometry of Fire, and concert readings of Pete Towshend's new rock opera, The Boy Who Heard Music, and R-E-S-P-E-C-T, a musical featuring hit songs originally by Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, the Staple Singers, Wilson Pickett and more.

Hats!, a new musical previously seen in Denver and New Orleans, opened at the Royal George Theatre in Chicago on April 29th for a run through June 10th.

Dreamgirls Film Cast Members Set for Tonight's 'Stars'

According to the official website for the ABC show, 'Dancing with the Stars,' over fourteen members from the cast of the film adaptation of Dreamgirls will be performing on tonight's result show at 9pm.

2007 Mac Nominees Perform at Iridium, April 25

Vocalists Scot Albertson, Mychelle Colleary, John DeMarco, Laurie Krauz, Ejaye Tracey, and Alysha Umphress will perform with the Barry Levitt Trio at Iridium Jazz Club, Wednesday, April 25 at 10PM. All slated performers are 2007 MAC Nominees for Jazz Vocalist.
