The Auditorium Theatre hosts Play Like a Kid…For the Kids!, a Game Day FUNdraiser to support their education and outreach programs, today, June 14 at 6PM at the Chicago Sports Museum at Water Tower Place (835 N. Michigan Ave - 7th Floor). Attendees will enjoy the museum exhibits and the museum's 'Play with the Legends' interactive games while enjoying food, wine and beer, raffle prizes, and a live auction.

The Auditorium Theatre welcomes Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC) back to its landmark stage as the final performance of the season's 'Made in Chicago' Dance Series, Saturday, June 11 at 7:30PM. The company, led by Artistic Director Nan Giordano, returns after last year's dynamic engagement and will perform five works from the company's 157-piece repertory, including Crossing/Lines, Feelin' Good Sweet, Can't Take This Away, Sneaky Pete, and Sing, Sing, Sing. Five conductors have been selected to participate in the League of American Orchestras' 2016 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview. On Wednesday, May 11 in Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center, they will lead the GRAMMY Award-winning Nashville Symphony and receive guidance and mentoring from Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero, himself a Preview alum. The League's prestigious showcase spotlights talented conductors poised for music directorships and staff conducting positions at America's orchestras, bringing them to the attention of search committees, orchestra administrators and artist managers.

Chicago Opera Theater Receives Largest Contribution in its 42-Year History

Andreas Mitisek, General Director of Chicago Opera Theater (COT), today announced that the company has received a generous $1,500,000 gift from Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson. Their gift is the single largest contribution in the company's 42-year history. Neeson, who served as a COT board member for nine years and Vice President for three, and her husband, Stefan Edlis, have been COT subscribers and supporters for decades. In honor of and appreciation for this milestone contribution, COT's general director position will be renamed the 'Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson General Director.'

Gordon Getty's USHER HOUSE to Premiere at Welsh National Opera, 13-15 June

Composer Gordon Getty's opera Usher House will receive its world stage premiere as part of Welsh National Opera's double bill titled The Fall of the House of Usher on Friday, June 13, and Sunday, June 15, 2014, in Cardiff, Wales, and Friday, June 20, 2014 in Birmingham. The Getty opera will be paired with Robert Orledge's completed version of Debussy's La Chute de la Maison Usher. A co-production with San Francisco Opera, the double bill will receive its United States premiere in San Francisco in December 2015.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) Board President, Gregory O'Leary, announces the appointment of Henry Fogel as the company's new President of the Board of Directors, effective July 16, 2013. As COT enters its 40th season, Mr. Fogel succeeds Gregory O'Leary who has held the position since July 2010. O'Leary will remain a member of COT's Executive Committee.

Expanding on its popular 'Movie Music' programs that feature live orchestration of film scene scores, Chicago's new art music leader, Fulcrum Point New Music Project, with a 100-member orchestra, presents the complete film score and screening of the 1980 science fiction classic, Altered States. The live score performance is part of a citywide, four-day 'Forever Young' festival celebrating the 75th birthday of modern master composer John Corigliano. Fulcrum Point presents Altered States in one performance only at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Street, tonight, April 23 at 7 pm.

Award-winning actor and musician Hershey Felder (George Gershwin Alone, Monsieur Chopin, Beethoven As I Knew Him) returns to Chicago with Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein. Combining first-person narrative with the music of composer Bernstein and the artists who inspired him, Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein is the story of the legendary American composer and longtime music director of the New York Philharmonic. Helmed by award-winning director Joel Zwick, Hershey Felder will return to Chicago's Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted, where from September 2004 through January 2006, he held residence with George Gershwin Alone and the World Premiere of Monsieur Chopin, culminating in 70 weeks of live performances. Maestro will begin previews on November 1st with press opening November 9th, and will play through December 30.
