Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents The Merry Wives of Windsor directed by Artistic Director Barbara Gaines from December 3, 2013 to January 19, 2014 in CST's Courtyard Theater. Embraced by audiences as one of Shakespeare's most delightful comedies-and often called the first "situation comedy"-this high-spirited romp centers on the lovable rogue Sir John Falstaff, a character Shakespeare first brought to life in Henry IV. Now we find Sir John hard up for money, seeking to repair his depleted fortunes by wooing the two most prominent women in town. But his plans go awry with disastrous consequences, as the wooed Windsor wives see through Falstaff's schemes, and dupe him repeatedly. The musicality of Shakespeare's language will be underscored with the melodies of the post-war 1940s-evoking a yearning for the simple, country life. The production features Scott Jaeck as Sir John Falstaff, Kelli Fox as Mistress Page and Heidi Kettenring as Mistress Ford. Chicago Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor plays in CST's Courtyard Theater December 3, 2013 - January 19, 2014.

There's something very special about a story that can instantly make people of any age feel like a child again. Sometimes in the hustle bustle of today's world with so many 'adult' problems, adults forget what it's like to have been a child. MARY POPPINS has been just that kind of story for children of all ages for years, and Maine State Music Theatre's current production of MARY POPPINS will warm your heart and lift your spirits.
Maine State Music Theatre brings the 55th season of professional musical theater to a close with Cameron Mackintosh and Disney's family favorite, Mary Poppins, which flies into the Pickard Theater August 7. Check out a first look at the cast below!
There's an old saying in theatre: "There are no small roles, just small actors". Despite her featured role as Tessie Tura in GYPSY at Maine State Music Theatre, her talent and impressive resume prove that she is no "small" actress. From understudying Patti LuPone in the original Broadway production of Evita, success in films and sitcoms, to becoming an MSMT favorite, it is clear to see why as soon as you see her on stage. Though, the audiences at MSMT might have a hard time convincing her that Brunswick's crowds are bigger fans than she is of the midcoast town.
'Sing out, Louise!!'. This phrase has been part of theatre lexicon for more than 50 years. Almost having become an inside joke, and used by directors, choreographers and actors to coax performers into giving it their all. Throughout GYPSY's storied history, it has been produced numerous times across this country; the 'greatest American musical' is also often referred to as a 'perfect' musical. And Maine State Music Theatre's current production of GYPSY is just that: perfect.
