After a sold-out first edition, Broadway's best writers and performers teamed together again to help raise funds for children with special needs in New York City and around the world. Victor Legra, Anthony Crouchelli & M.O.V.E for Autism presented 'Putting the Pieces Together: Volume 2' featuring the music of Carner and Gregor, Rosser and Sohne, Maglione and Ruiz, Joey Contreras, Justin Anthony Long, Jonathan Lee & Joanna Burns; David Dabbon, and Will Van Dyke. Co producers, Erin Fogarty and Daniel Ulbrict of the New York City Ballet, present The 4th Annual Dance Against Cancer, the American Cancer Society's signature dance event dedicated to raising funds and supporting the fight against cancer. Guests enjoy cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres, as well as world premiere dance performances from companies including New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Norwegian National Ballet, Broadway's finest, many more. Since its inauguration, Dance Against Cancer has raised over $200,000.00 in support of the American Cancer Society.

Broadway Artists Alliance, a New York City-based musical theatre training program, kicked off their 10th season with a star-studded concert as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series on Monday night. Performers, as well as instructors and alumni sang their all-time favorite show tunes. The cast included Laura Benanti (left, by Seth Walters), Jenn Colella, Andrea Burns, David Ayers, and Heather Parcells, who were joined by BAA Alumni Liz Byrne, Emma Howard, Kyle Taylor Parker, Ruby Rakos, Emerson Steele, Bethany Tesarck, and Clay Thomson. Proceeds from this event will benefit the BAA scholarship fund, which provides $10,000 in scholarships each year.

REEFER MADNESS, the cult classic with book and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and book and music by Dan Studney, just played a one night only benefit concert at New World Stages. Directed by Ilana Ransom Toeplitz and produced by Shoshana Feinstein, the event featured Constantine Maroulis (Jekyll & Hyde, Rock of Ages), Telly Leung ('Glee', Godspell), Harry S. Broadway Battles Bullying Concert is set for Friday, May 2nd at 11:30PM (11:00 doors open) at Joe's Pub at The Public. The producers of the new Broadway musical Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, announced today that the show will play its final performance on Sunday, October 13 at 3pm. Following a Off-Broadway run last year and in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Soul Doctor began previews at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre on July 17 and had its official opening on Thursday, August 15. Upon its closing, Soul Doctor will have played 32 previews and 66 regular performances.

The producers of the new Broadway musical Soul Doctor - about the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone - have formed an ambitious partnership with Michael Steinhardt's Birthright Israel alumni effort, The Alumni Community, the organization's primary provider of post programming, and the central address for participants when they return home from their Israel experience. The partnership, a first for The Alumni Community, includes the opportunity for 5,000 alumni to see Soul Doctor, participate in exclusive receptions and post-performance talkbacks, and is being underwritten by Mr. Steinhardt, co-founder of Birthright Israel.
