Today, Nov. 14, Wagner College Theatre opens its Main Stage production of "Legally Blonde: The Musical," with book by Heather Hach and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin. The musical is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon. The show runs tonight, Nov. 14-17, takes a break for Thanksgiving week, and has its concluding run Nov. 28 through Dec. 2.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU), now celebrating its 21st year as a not-for-profit service organization, has announced a lineup of Broadway stars performing at their annual TRU Love Benefit, Making the Impossible Possible!.

Omigod you guys, Legally Blonde has taken over the Omaha Community Playhouse! Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde follows blonde beauty Elle Woods as she journeys from her California campus to Harvard Law School. This sassy story of self-empowerment is a hysterically funny, feel-good musical with catchy songs and unforgettable characters. Legally Blonde will leave you singing '‘Omigod You Guys' let's go again!'

The movie should not have been very good but Reese Witherspoon sold it. The musical is very good and the original Elle Woods, Laura Bell Bundy took an insanely difficult part and nailed it. This is why I was tentative when I heard Seattle Musical Theatre was starting off their season with "Legally Blonde" as you need a hell of a cast including a major triple threat in the lead, a killer band and a very gifted director to keep it all going. Well, check, check and check as SMT's "Legally Blonde" manages all three and provides one fun, frothy and fabulous show.

Legally Blonde, the Musical is as tuneful and entertaining as any musical could ever hope to be, and while the story seems lighthearted and fun, there's a definite message to be found in Heather Hach's book and the music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Neil Benjamin. Under Adams' laser-sharp direction-that is filled with a lot of heart and her unerring attention to detail-The Keeton Theatre's cast offers up a production of the show that's as good as it gets.

OMG! You mean, like, Elle Woods isn't from the San Fernando Valley, but from Malibu? Wow! And- she not only attended college locally but got into Harvard Law School? May seem a bit far-fetched or too hard to swallow, but it doesn't matter, because once you've seen Elle in action, she's irresistible: a cross between Goldie Hawn, Glinda from Wicked and a splash of Mary Poppins thrown in for good measure. You're gonna love her, guys, in this grande spanking, freshly blossomed pink rosebud of a show. Based on the 2001 movie, Legally Blonde follows the story of Elle Woods, a seemingly vacuous sorority girl. After being dumped by her Harvard Law bound boyfriend, Elle is determined to win him back. So, she packs up her Pradas and her pooch and heads to the Ivy League school.
