I will admit to the fact that the original 1992 film of "Newsies" is one of my guilty pleasures. So when I heard they were making a stage version of the musical I was dubious but excited. The original already made you overlook much of the schlock, cheese, historical inaccuracies and plot holes. But the stage version, currently at the Paramount Theatre, with its retooled story forces even more of a willing suspension of disbelief almost to the point of brain death. But if you can manage that level of tucking rational thought into some dark corner then you're bound to have a good time as this spectacle is loaded with tons of vibrancy and a bevy of cute "boys" who sure do sing and dance pretty.

The cast of NBC's HAIRSPRAY LIVE! is starting to come together! As BroadwayWorld reported just yesterday, Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG and Grammy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson and multiple Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein will headline the network's next live Broadway musical holiday event following the phenomenal success of 'The Wiz Live!' This still leaves many roles that have yet to be cast, and we've learned that another original star has his eyes on a new part.

NBC is assembling an all-star team of Broadway's finest and most talented creatives for its upcoming production of 'Hairspray Live!,' the network's latest stage musical following the phenomenal success of 'The Wiz Live!' If it was possible to like... or rather, LOOOVE... the Broadway musical KINKY BOOTS even more so than one already does, the lovable, fresh-faced cast of the musical's current first national tour is certainly making a really good case for it. An all-around spectacular stage show in every sense of the word, the 2013 six-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical's current North American traveling company---now back in Los Angeles for an all-too brief two-week run at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood through April 24---very much lives up to its rousing, crowd-pleasing reputation thrice over. Writers seeking fame and recognition are generally advised to steer clear of the task of writing books for Broadway musicals. The Kennedy Center presents KINKY BOOTS, the smash-hit musical that brings together four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award winner for Best Score for KINKY BOOTS). The production makes its Washington, D.C. premiere at the Kennedy Center for four weeks from June 14 through July 10, 2016, in the Kennedy Center Opera House.
