Betty Cuningham Gallery to Open PAINT Exhibition, 1/10

On Thursday, January 10th, Betty Cuningham Gallery will open a group exhibition titled PAINT which will include paintings and works on paper by ten artists: William Bailey, David Bates, Jake Berthot, Charles Garabedian, Judy Glantzman, John Lees, Stanley Lewis, Gordon Moore, David Reed, and John Walker. The gallery will host an opening reception for the artists on January 10, 6-8pm.

Sundance Institute Announces Jury Members for 2013 Sundance Film Festival

Sundance Institute announced today 19 members of five juries awarding prizes at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Short Film Awards will be announced at a ceremony on January 22 at Park City's Jupiter Bowl, with feature film awards announced at a separate ceremony on January 26.

Fine Lines: American Drawings from the Brooklyn Museum Exhibition Opens in March

Fine Lines: American Drawings from the Brooklyn Museum presents a selection of more than a hundred rarely seen drawings and sketchbooks produced between 1768 and 1945 from the Brooklyn Museum's exceptional collection. The exhibition will feature the work of more than seventy artists, including John Singleton Copley, Stuart Davis, Thomas Eakins, William Glackens, Marsden Hartley, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Eastman Johnson, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, and Benjamin West. Among the works on display will be Gaston Lachaise's Back of a Nude Woman (1929), Winslow Homer's Two Girls in Field (1871), and William Merritt Chase's Shinnecock Hills (circa 1895). Investigating the place of drawing within the broader history of American art before 1945, Fine Lines showcases a variety of subjects, styles, and practices and demonstrates the variety and vitality of the graphic arts in America across nearly two centuries.

The Colony Theatre previously announced that it has achieved the first goal of its emergency "Save the Colony" campaign by raising $49,000 in ten days so that it can open THE MORINI STRAD as scheduled tonight, November 17th. However, the award-winning theatre company still must raise $500,000 by year's end to continue serving the region.

Philippine Center Gallery Opens CHING VALDES-ARAN: NEW AND SELECTED WORK Exhibition, 10/22

Obie-award winning stage, TV and film actor, and accomplished director, Ching Valdes-Aran, presents a solo exhibition of her paintings for the first time in the United States. Entitled CHING VALDES-ARAN: NEW AND SELECTED WORK, the exhibition will be on view at the Philippine Center Gallery in New York City from October 22 through November 2nd, 2012. The Philippine Center Gallery is located at 556 Fifth Avenue, between West 45th and 46th Streets. An artist's reception will take place on Monday October 22 from 6 to 9 pm.
