Baryshnikov Arts Center presents Messiaen's Quartet For The End Of Time

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) continues its Spring 2018 Music Series on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 7:30pm with a presentation of Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time conceived and directed by Sarah Rothenberg with lighting designed by Jennifer Tipton, performed in BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater. An all-star ensemble of instrumentalists - Joshua Rubin, clarinet; Geoff Nuttall, violin; Christopher Costanza, cello; and Sarah Rothenberg, piano - bring to life this timeless work, which Messiaen wrote and premiered in 1941 while in confinement at a prisoner-of-war camp in Germany during World War II.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia presents Second Chamber Music Concert at the Annenberg Center

A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) presents our second chamber music series concert as Orchestra-in-Residence at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in a concert entitled Beyond Bebop: Jazz, Classical, and the Third Stream. Great Music at St. Bart's Presents Chamber Music in the Chapel

The first events of 2018 presented by the Great Music at St. Bart's series are two concerts of chamber music in the beautifully intimate St. Bart's Chapel: the vibrant contemporary music ensemble Hotel Elefant playing a program of world premieres of music by its member composers along with works of Kaija Saariaho, and the latest St. Bart's program by the Apple Hill String Quartet, which includes the New York premiere of a work by Geoff Hudson (more information below).

Mark White Octet Celebrates Album Release at The Black Box

Celebrate the release of the Mark White Octet's debut recording with a live performance at THE BLACK BOX, downtown Franklin's theater, music and event venue, at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 1. Featuring West Coast Swing with an East Coast vibe, the Octet includes Mark White (guitar), Scott deOgburn (piano), Jon Garniss (trombone), Kenny Hadley (drums), Rick Hammet (trumpet), Arnie Krakowsky (tenor sax), Mark Poniatowski (bass) and Ken Reid (bari sax), world-class musicians whose performance r sum s include a long list of music royalty. Great Music Returns to St. Bart's for the 2017-18 Season

Great Music at St. Bart's, the concert series produced by the Mid-Manhattan Performing Arts Foundation (MMPAF), for the past seven years has presented music in St. Bartholomew's Church, a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of New York located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The magnificent 1918 Romanesque-style church features a portal designed by Stanford White and a grand Byzantine-style interior and two of New York's unlikely but outstanding concert spaces: the 150-seat chapel, an intimate and acoustically brilliant space that is perfectly suited for contemporary chamber music, and the majestic 1,000-seat sanctuary outfitted with comfortable chairs enabling flexible seating whose Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ is the largest in New York City and one of the finest examples of the American Classic Organ in the U.S.

American Lyric Theater to Introduce THE NEW CREW with Special Salon

American Lyric Theater presents The New Crew, a salon including performances by and discussions with American Lyric Theater's newest Resident Artists in the Composer Librettist Development Program: composers Shuying Li, Andy Teirstein, and Liliya Ugay; librettists Lorene Cary, Julian Crouch, and Lila Palmer; and dramaturg Antigoni Gaitana.

Review: TCLA Revels in Personal Freedom via Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

As a lifelong fan of David Bowie and human rights equality, when I heard The Los Angeles LGBT Center was hosting a return performance of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles (TCLA) to its Renberg Theatre the weekend of August 26-27, 2017 to perform planet Earth's first staged concert production of Bowie's full The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars album, I rushed to get my tickets! And thanks to TCLA's artistic director, Lindsey Deaton, and the talented artistic singers of the group, I can tell you the evening was one of the most inspirational of my life.
