In June of 2009, Ralph Gregorio came across an odd news article. The Italian government had prevented two men from crossing the Italian border into Switzerland with $135 billion in U.S. bonds. Though the two men had been caught, they were soon released. This struck Gregorio as inspiration, and the result was his new book, 'A Murder in Zurich' (published by AuthorHouse).

This 'tango operita' is of stunning originality, pulsing to the passion and beat of Astor Piazzolla's revolutionary 'nuevo tango' and Horacio Ferrer's mesmerizing, imaginative poetry. Chicago Opera Theater's production is a collaboration with Chicago's Luna Negra Dance Theater at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Exploring the opera's themes, this special event will examine the dynamic history of the tragic and explosive world along the border and its influence on contemporary culture and music. A sneak peek into the opera with LBO cast members will be one of the highlights of the afternoon.
