Art of Time Ensemble Announces 2013/14 Concert Series: Branford Marsalis, Jackie Richardson and More

The innovative Art of Time Ensemble today announced the details of the artists and productions featured in their 2013/14 concert series. With music at the centre of the four original programmes curated by Artistic Director Andrew Burashko, the upcoming series brings together theatre, dance, literature and the visual arts with the widest array of musical styles Art of Time has ever assembled in one season.
Featuring the best artistic creators and musicians from Canada and around the world, the Ensemble welcomes saxophone legend Branford Marsalis and Jackie Richardson, who join Peggy Baker, Daniel Brooks, David Earle, Bruce Alcock, Gregory Hoskins, Choir 21, Kevin Lamotte and more."Music is the heartbeat that feeds the various art forms we bring together at Art of Time," said Burashko. "The 2013/14 season is a variety show of the highest order that showcases incredibly talented artists in unique, ambitious and entertaining collaborations that we hope will challenge and inspire our audiences."On stage at the intimate Enwave Theatre, the season opens October 25 to 26, 2013 with What is Sacred, an evening exploring the many forms and styles of music's relation to faith. Featuring Canadian jazz legend Jackie Richardson, Choir 21, Ensemble regular Gregory Hoskins and the stunning choreography of David Earle, the music performed spans centuries. The concert features works from Gregorio Allegri's 17thcentury choral masterpiece Miserere, Arvo Pärt's Sabat Mater, spirituals of the Afro-American church, Oliver Messaien, and contemporary expressions of faith in music by alt-country singer/songwriter Jeff Tweedy and Americana artist Steve Earle.Art of Time Ensemble is the creation of renowned classical pianist and Artistic DirectorAndrew Burashko. Not content to rehash basic classical repertoire, Burashko and Art of Time Ensemble have become known for their daring interaction with the Toronto cultural scene. Entering its fifteenth season, Art of Time Ensemble is one of Canada's most innovative and artistically accomplished music ensembles.
