THE BEST MAN Recoups on Broadway!

Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN, the critically-acclaimed revival about dirty tricks and double-dealing at a political convention, recoups its investment just as the 2012 Republican National Convention begins. The play will conclude its limited engagement at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) right after the 2012 Democratic National Convention on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

Broadway Star, Composer and Author Ed Dixon Comes to Signature Theatre Tonight, Aug 27

Signature Theatre will be hosting a special one-night performance and book-signing featuring Broadway star and Helen Hayes Award winner Ed Dixon (Signature's Sunset Boulevard). Tonight, August 27 at 8:00PM, Mr. Dixon will be performing original compositions as well narrate behind-the-scenes stories from his recent memoir Secrets of A Life On Stage…And Off. Copies of the book will be available to purchase, and a book-signing will take place following the performance, which will take place in Signature's intimate ARK Theatre.

THE LAST SMOKER IN AMERICA Plays Final Performance 9/1

The Last Smoker in America, with book and lyrics by Tony Award® Nominee Bill Russell (Side Show) and music by Drama Desk Nominee Peter Melnick (Adrift in Macao), with direction by Tony Award® winning producer and director Andy Sandberg (Hair; Gore Vidal's The Best Man), choreography by Tony Award® nominee AC Ciulla (Footloose) and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Fred Lassen (The Gershwin's Porgy & Bess), will play its final performance Saturday evening, September 1, 2012 upstairs at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street). Previews began on July 11, 2012 with Opening Night on August 2, 2012.

Gore Vidal Biography Planned for 2015

According to the New York Times, Doubleday will soon publish a biography of recently deceased playwright Gore Vidal. Jay Parini, a friend of Vidal's for many years, will write the book, which is planned to be released in 2015.
