Artistic Directors Bick Goss and Frank Evans and Board President Stephen Hanks announce the first presentation of their series of new musicals for 2012-2013: NEUROSIS: THE MUSICAL, with Book by Allan Rice ('New Adventures of Old Christine' CBS), Music by Ben Green, Lyrics by Greg Edwards ('White House Christmas' music by Marvin Hamlisch.) Director is Andy Sandberg (LAST SMOKER IN AMERICA; on Broadway and London's West End as a producer of HAIR (2009 Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle Awards) and the recent revival of Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN (2012 Tony Award Nomination).

With serious issues at stake in Tuesday's upcoming election, let's take a break with some of Broadway's sillier looks at the commander-in-chief.

Zelda at the Oasis, a new play by P. H. Lin, directed by Andy Sandberg (The Last Smoker in America), will celebrate its New York Premiere on Friday, November 16th when it begins previews at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street, in the heart of Times Square. The official opening is Tuesday, December 4th at 7 PM. Zelda at the Oasis, which features Edwin Cahill and Gardner Reed, is an open-ended engagement.

Mark Blum has joined the cast of The New Group's The Good Mother, written by Francine Volpe and directed by Scott Elliott. He joins Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelsen in the premiere of this new play, replacing the previously announced Bill Sage, who had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict prior to start of rehearsals. Mark Blum's Broadway credits include Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Twelve Angry Men, A Thousand Clowns, Lost in Yonkers, and more. He has appeared previously at The New Group in Wallace Shawn and Allen Shawn's play/opera The Music Teacher, among others.

The New Group presents the first production in its 2012-2013 season, the world premiere of The Good Mother, a new play by Francine Volpe. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Mark Blum, Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelsen. Previews begin October 29 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00pm. A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through December 22 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre / 410 West 42nd Street / Acorn Theatre). Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that Bette Midler is the top candidate to play legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers on Broadway in a new play by Tony-winner John Logan. Riedel reports that 'She's interested in Logan's play - as yet untitled - because, says a source, "a one-person show isn't as risky as shouldering a big musical." That - and the fact that Mengers is a hell of a character.'

Presented by The Private Theatre (John Gould Rubin, Artistic Director; Lucy DiRosa, Executive Director) and Barbara Ligeti, the world premiere of the new solo show, Turning Page, written and performed by Angelica Page (Gore Vidal's The Best Man) with direction by Tony Award® nominee Wilson Milam (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), will end its limited engagement this Sunday, October 28, 2012 at The Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street) where performances began October 11, 2012.
