Neil Fleming's THE CONSULTANT Premieres at Theatre503, 3/23

Olivier-Award winning Theatre503 continues its commitment to new writers with the world premiere of Neil Fleming's The Consultant (23 March - 16 April), a Faustian tale for the age of austerity which explores the usefulness and value of management consultants against the backdrop of George Osborne's cuts.

Amsterdam Marionette Theatre Continues DOCTOR FAUST, 3/20-5/28

After a brief hiatus, the Amsterdam Marionette Company will resume performances of The Amazing Journey of Doctor Faust on Mar. 20. The play, which uses music by Gounod, Marenco, Wagner and Offenbach, started on Jan. 23 and continued until Feb. 13. Faust will now close on May 28.

33rd Museum Mile Festival Scheduled for 6/14, Rain or Shine

Now celebrating its 33rd year, the annual Museum Mile Festival (www.museummilefestival.org) takes place rain or shine on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Over 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception. Festival attendees can walk the Mile between 82nd Street to 105th Street while visiting nine of New York City's finest cultural institutions open free to the public throughout the evening. In addition, several of the participating museums offer outdoor art activities for children.

Coumbia's Miller Theatre Continues Composer Portraits with Chaya Czernowin, 4/15

Delicate, beautiful, and wonderfully strange, the music of Israeli composer Chaya Czernowin is rapidly gaining international notice. She was recently appointed to the faculty at Harvard and has been commissioned by such powerhouse groups as Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Intercontemporain. Either/Or, 'a new and first-rate new-music ensemble' (The New York Times), makes its Miller debut.

Incubator Arts Project Presents MEDEA & MEDEA/FOR MEDEA, 2/17-26

On the last precipice of Civilization, the myth of Medea meets Thelma and Louise, Cavalli and Rebecca West in a multimedia mashup featuring soundscape by Kristin Worrall. medea and medea/for medea uses a variety of ancient and contemporary materials to establish new boundaries for storytelling and mythmaking in a world dominated by mediated images and information. It attempts to break down cultural and dramatic expectations and create space for audiences to experience moments and episodes of connection and recognition with unusual juxtapositions, beauty, and dissonance.

René Pape Makes West Coast Recital Debut at Los Angeles Opera

René Pape, who triumphed earlier this season as Boris Godunov at the Metropolitan Opera, will present the most intimate side of his art when he makes his West Coast recital debut on January 15 at the Los Angeles Opera.
