54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents 'The Sound Of Music Nuns' Christmas Party' on December 12, 2014 at 9:30 pm. It's been one year since you saw them on national TV in THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE!, but these sisters have reunited and are hosting the season's best and most irreverent Christmas party! Celebrate the season at 54 Below with an evening of holiday spirit, majestic choral singing and hilarious storytelling from some of the finest female voices on Broadway. The Laguna Playhouse Welcomes Emmy Award-Winner Ed Asner as 'FDR', Now thru 11/23

The Laguna Playhouse Executive and Artistic Directors, Karen Wood and Ann E. Wareham are thrilled to present Ed Asner, recipient of seven Emmy Awards ('Mary Tyler Moore Show', 'Lou Grant') and 16 nominations, five Golden Globe Awards, and member of the TV Academy Hall of Fame, starring in the solo performance drama, FDR, based upon Dore Schary's Broadway hit 'Sunrise at Campobello', which ran 70 weeks on Broadway.

Juilliard Opera Season Premieres with IL TURCO IN ITALIA Tonight

NEW YORK –– The Juilliard Opera season opens with a production of Gioachino Rossini's Il Turco in Italia (The Turk in Italy), a drama buffo in two acts with a libretto by Felice Romani. Juilliard alumnaSperanza Scappucci conducts the Juilliard singers and the Juilliard Orchestra in her conducting debut at Juilliard in the production directed by John Giampietro. Performances take place tonight, November 19, 2014 and Friday, November 21, 2014 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 2 p.m., in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Tickets for Juilliard Opera's production of Il Turco in Italia are $30 and available at events.juilliard.edu or at the Juilliard Box Office. Juilliard students may attend for free; non-Juilliard students with valid ID may purchase tickets at $15 at the Juilliard Box Office.

CHICAGO – Lyric Opera of Chicago presents The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess,conducted by Ward Stare in a revival of the acclaimed production from renowned director Francesca Zambello. It opens on Monday, November 17 with 13 performances through Saturday, December 20. Performance dates are Nov. 17, 19, Dec. 2, 5, 8, 13, 16, and 20 at 7:30pm; and Nov. 23, 26, 28, Dec. 11 and 18 at 2pm.

Three Dog Night, Muppet Movie Sing-a-Long, Dick Fox Doo Wop Extravaganza and More Set for Arcadia's 2015 Season

Arcadia Performing Arts Foundation presents its second season at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center -- Three Dog Night on Saturday, January 10 at 8 pm; The Four Tops on Saturday, February 21 at 8 pm; Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Friday, March 27 at 8 pm; The Muppet Movie Sing-a-Long on Saturday, May 16 at 2 pm and Dick Fox Doo Wop Extravaganza on Saturday, June 6 at 7 pm. This four concert season, and the additional attraction The Muppet Movie Sing-A-Long, is presented by the Arcadia Performing Arts Foundation and is a means of raising funds to support arts in the schools and maintain this new, state-of-the-art facility.

THE WINTER OF APRIL to Run 12/4-21 at Theatre for the New City

'The Winter of April,' a Police Thriller partly inspired by the Gilgo Beach murders on Long Island in 2010, compares the fate of murdered sex workers with others who have been shadowed or forgotten by history, including those, like Ada Lovelace, who were at the forefront of science and technology. The play was written and structured by Ricardo Sarmiento Gaffurri from a concept by director Ramiro Antonio Sandoval and his Tabula RaSa NYC Theater & Performance Lab. It is mounted with ensemble acting, sophisticated audiovisuals and multimedia modeling. The piece protests society's tendency to tie sexual crimes to one perpetrator, when the individual is usually the tip of an iceberg--a global machine of human trafficking. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., NYC will present the play's world premiere December 4 to 21.

Deeply Rooted Dance Theater to Return to New York with GENERATIONS II, 11/21-23

Chicago-based Deeply Rooted Dance Theater returns to the Mark Morris Dance Center with Generations II, November 21-23, 2014. Generations II is the second installation of the five-part Generations Initiative. Launched in 2013, the multigenerational repertory project features classic and new works by choreographers representing the scope of the continuum of dance that forms Deeply Rooted's legacy. In collaborating with nationally renowned choreographers across the spectrum of modern, ballet, and African dance, The 2014 New York season features works by Kevin Iega Jeff, Gary Abbott, Nicole Clarke-Springer and MenCa offering three New York premieres.

Opera San Jose Stages THE ITALIAN GIRL IN ALGIERS, Now thru 11/30

Opera San José (OSJ) continues its season with Gioachino Rossini's The Italian Girl in Algiers. This sparkling and fast-paced opera weaves a madcap story full of twists and turns into a comic adventure to a land of magnificent palaces, swashbuckling pirates and lavish harems. The Italian Girl in Algiers will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Six performances are scheduled from November 15 through 30 at the California Theatre, 345 South First Street in downtown San José.

The Dallas Opera Presents TENOR MATTHEW POLENZANI, 1/11

Bryan Hymel to Play 'Rodolfo' in Metropolitan Opera's LA BOHEME Tonight

In a last-minute substitution, American tenor Bryan Hymel will sing the role of Rodolfo in this evening's performance of La Bohème, replacing Ramón Vargas, who is ill. Hymel, who made a successful Met role debut as Rodolfo earlier this season, agreed yesterday evening to fly to New York from Chicago, where he is in rehearsal for a different opera.
