After last semester's successful “What Is Opera” showcase, Opera UTEP returns to bring you even more opera favorites that demonstrate what opera is. This semester's scenes will include selections from CARMEN, DON GIOVANNI, THE MAGIC FLUTE, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE, EL DUO DE LA AFRICANA, DIE FLEDERMAUS and more!

While McCaw Hall's stage may be dark, opera music continues to reverberate in the Pacific Northwest and beyond: Starting every Saturday on April 25, enjoy Seattle Opera Mornings on King FM. Classical KING FM 98.1 will broadcast recordings of previous Seattle Opera performances including Tosca, La traviata, The Magic Flute, and Madame Butterfly. Broadcasts will be available on the radio and at king.org every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

Next week's programming begins on Monday, April 20, 2020 with a testimonial from BHdos company dancer Melanie Ramos at noon, followed by an inspirational message at 3pm from actor and tap dancer Ayodele Casel (one of The New York Times' 'Biggest Breakout Stars of 2019') at www.instagram.com/ballethispanico/.

It's never going to compete with the thrill of being part of the audience at a one-of-a-kind live performance, but there are a great many possibilities for enjoying filmed live opera performances that can be streamed for free online these days. The most exciting presentation to date is the Metropolitan Opera's At-Home Gala featuring artists singing from their own homes, or where they find themselves, on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 pm New York time.
