Graeae, the UK's leading disabled led theatre company today announces the cast for its first ever chamber opera - the world premiere of composer Errollyn Wallen's The Paradis Files. 

The BERKSHIRE OPERA FESTIVAL has announced its 2022 season in Great Barrington and Pittsfield, MA, and for the first time in Chatham, NY. The only company of its kind in the region, BOF produces opera at the highest level under the vision of esteemed co-founders Brian Garman (Artistic Director) and Jonathon Loy (Director of Production).

New National Theatre has announced the opera program for the 2022/23 season, marking the 25th anniversary of the New National Theatre, Tokyo. 

This spring, Seattle Rep will produce Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts, in a new translation by Paul Walsh. Directed by Carey Perloff (Seattle Rep: A Thousand Splendid Suns) and set to feature Academy Award-nominated actor David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck; A League of Their Own; Nomadland), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Scarface), and Thom Sesma (Broadway: The Lion King), Ghosts will be performed on the Bagley Wright stage from April 1-May 1, 2022; single tickets and digital access may be purchased online.

The Tony Award winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, the current offering from The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is indeed a fascinating piece. I say fascinating because at its entertaining core, it is a show within a show spoofing old musicals. The plot includes mistaken identities, dream sequences, an unexcitable English butler, a Broadway producer going crazy over his Follies production, comical gangsters, a ditzy chorine, a harried best man, and an alcoholic, er, “drowsy”, chaperone amongst other stereotypes. The enjoyable Jordan Hue directed incarnation runs through March 12th at the charming Oakdale, Long Island, venue.

Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern have announced updates for the company’s season. Initially announced as a special event, Lessons in Survival: 1971 will now receive a full production on the Vineyard stage May 25 - June 30. 

Baritone Michael Mayes returns to Louisiana to sing the title role in Verdi's Rigoletto for one night only on March 26, 2022 at Shreveport Opera. In recent seasons, Rigoletto has become a staple for Mayes, who garnered great critical acclaim for his portrayal of the iconic Verdi role with companies including Houston Grand Opera and Boston Lyric Opera.
