Official: National Theatre Live to Bring HAMLET with Benedict Cumberbatch to Cinemas This Fall

Sonia Friedman Productions and National Theatre Live have announced an international broadcast of Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) in the title role in Lyndsey Turner's production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and presented by the Barbican, to cinemas internationally on Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Gillian Anderson recently took on the iconic role of Blanche DuBois in a sold-out production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at London's Young Vic. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the actress is now revisiting the character in a new short film she directed. Written by Andrew O'Hagan, 'The Departure' was created for the Young Vic Shorts series, which presents companion pieces to shows that have been performed at the theatre.

The Daily Mail reports that the Young Vic's recent production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, starring Gillian Anderson as 'Blanche DuBois', is hunting for a New York theatre. Benedict Andrews' production of the Tennessee Williams play is allegedly aiming for a Broadway bow in 2016.
