Murney, Block Sing WICKED with Columbus Symphony Orchestra; '10-'11 Season Announced

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra today announced the 2010 season lineup for its two annual summer outdoor concert series, the Nationwide Insurance Picnic with the Pops and Popcorn Pops. A Highlight of the season includes a special performance by former Elphabas Julia Murney and Stephanie J. Block singing songs from Wicked.

Sing for Hope (www.singforhope.org), an 'artists' peace corps' that mobilizes world-class artists in volunteer service programs that benefit schools, hospitals and communities, has collaborated with The Metropolitan Museum of Art to create Bringing It To YOU - a multidisciplinary arts day of gallery tours and featured performances for New York City school children. The event, presented by Sing for Hope, took place at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on March 4, 2010 with the performance beginning at 2:30pm at the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium. Broadway actors Teri Dale Hansen (The Boys From Syracuse, Show Boat) and Norm Lewis (The Little Mermaid, the upcoming Sondheim on Sondheim) will join the Princeton Symphony Orchestra for a Jan. 30 concert at the Richardson Auditorium in Princeton, NJ. Gerald Steichen will conduct works by Berlin, Ellington, Gershwin, Kern, Mercer, Porter, and Rodgers.
