Joffrey Ballet Announces 2018-19 Season: World Premiere of ANNA KARENINA, Return Of SWAN LAKE And More

Ashley Wheater, Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, proudly announces an impressive 2018-19 season featuring the world premiere of Yuri Possokhov's historic reimagining of Leo Tolstoy's classic novel, Anna Karenina, presented as part of a first-time collaboration between The Joffrey Ballet and the renowned Australian Ballet, along with a world premiere by rising urban dance star Andrea Walker, the Chicago Premiere of Wayne McGregor's Kairos and the return of two popular works by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.

For its annual winter engagement, The Joffrey Ballet presents Modern Masters, a mixed repertory program showcasing works by ballet's most celebrated contemporary icons along with today's top emerging choreographers, including the world premiere of Beyond the Shore by Joffrey Ballet Master Nicolas Blanc, the Chicago premiere of Glass Pieces by Jerome Robbins in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Joffrey premiere of The Four Temperaments by George Balanchine, plus the return of Body of Your Dreams by Myles Thatcher. Modern Masters is presented in 10 performances only, February 7 18, 2018.

Joffrey Ballet's Reenvisioned NUTCRACKER to Open Today

Following a wildly successful world premiere in December 2016, The Joffrey Ballet will present its newly reimagined holiday classic The Nutcracker by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon in 33 performances only, at the historic Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago at 50 East Congress Parkway, December 1-30, 2017.

The Joffrey Ballet launches its 2017-18 season with the Chicago Premiere of Lola de vila's visionary adaption of Giselle, one of the greatest and most beloved Romantic era ballets. De vila, former Associate Director of the San Francisco Ballet School, has elevated this classic tale of passion beyond the grave to new heights, set to prolific 19th century composer Adolphe Adam's original score created for the ballet's premiere in 1841. Giselle is presented in 10 performances only, October 18-29, 2017.

American Repertory Ballet Presents CARMEN

This October, American Repertory Ballet (ARB) will present a new triple-bill program in New York City and in New Brunswick, N.J. The performance features work by American Repertory Ballet's Resident Choreographers Kirk Peterson and Mary Barton: Peterson's Carmen and The Eyes that Gently Touch and Barton's Straight Up with a Twist.
