Blue Hill Troupe Presents GRAND HOTEL, 11/9-17

Blue Hill Troupe, Ltd. http://www.bht.org, the only musical theater group in New York City to donate its net proceeds to charity, launches its 89th season with Grand Hotel. Inspired by Vicki Baum's period novel of the same name, this multiple Tony Award-winning musical features music and lyrics by Robert Wright and George Forrest, with additional lyrics and music by Maury Yeston, and a book by Luther Davis. Grand Hotel will run from November 9-17, 2012 at Theatre at St. Clement's, 423 West 46th Street, New York, NY. Nathan Brewer directs, with musical direction by Isaac Harlan, and choreography by Jason Sparks.

The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.

Lakewood Theatre Company will celebrate its 60th anniversary season with six productions on its Mainstage and three productions on its Side Door stage beginning July 13, 2012. Season tickets for the 2012-2013 season are on sale now and prices for the six-show season range from $170.00 - $160.00. Performances are Thursday -Saturday at 7:30 PM, Sundays at 7:00 PM and some Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Season tickets can be purchased at the LTC Box Office at 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego. Pennsylvania School Cancels KISMET Production Because of 9/11

According to the Associated press, Richland School District, outside of Pittsburgh, has decided to cancel a production of KISMET (a musical about a Muslim poet) because the community 'complained about the timing so soon after the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.' Instead, the school will stage OKLAHOMA!

Reprise Theatre Company's production of the classic American musical 'Cabaret,' which opens the 2011-2012 Reprise season and plays September 13 to 25 (press opening September 14, 2011) at UCLA's Freud Playhouse, includes a cast of new talents as well as Broadway and West End veterans - Zach Bandler as Ernst Ludwig, Lisa O'Hare as Sally Bowles, Jeff McLean as Cliff Bradshaw, Katrina Lenk as Fräulein Kost, Mary Gordon Murray as Fräulein Schneider, Robert Picardo as Herr Schultz and Bryce Ryness as the Master of Ceremonies.
